I have had 2 Suburban in the last 5 years and the transmission failed right around 100K miles on both. They have a serious issue with it but have managed to get away with it as there has been no class action against it. My 2015 Suburban broke down around 96K miles and my 2016 Suburban at 101K. I'm sure if this is further researched then 90% of the these models must have reported the same problem around 100K. I'm looking forward to sue GM over this, as after spending over us$125000 on making payments on 2 cars and don't have a car that I can trust for long trips, as it always happened when I was with my family on a long trip and had to spend thousands in making alternative arrangements to get home safely. Before my last trip, I sent my Suburban at the dealership for a 100K miles service at 99836 miles where I was in warranty where they checked and said everything looks fine for the trip and did a basic oil change with inspection but after a week of touring the transmission boke down at around 101250 miles. Where I had to shell out $6200 in total as the car went out of warranty in a week time. The break down is $4500 for repairs, $850 for shipping the car, $500 in car rental and hotel, $350 broken windshield in transit. Both of my cars have always been to dealership for the service and periodic maintenance but its their defected transmission that would never hold up. I'm looking for people who would want to make a class action lawsuit against this and bring justice to all owners. I have the VIN for both of my Suburban where one was bought used with only 8K miles on it with extended warranty and the other was brand new.

Suburban

Suburban has 125,000 miles. No warning lights ever came on. It was driving fine. Stopped at a gas station and put it in park. When it was put back in drive, it wouldn't go. The RPM's revved up and the vehicle would not shift into gear. After stopping on the side of the road, re-started vehicle. It went into drive and got us to a safe location. However, as soon as we tried to go anywhere, it continued to not shift into gear. Still no warning lights came on. It was taken to a Chevrolet service center. They said the transmission pump was out. Additionally, they have been repairing 3-4 2016 Chevrolet Suburban transmissions every month. All with low miles.

Our vehicle which is used to move myself, my wife and our four children, has been experiencing lunging, vibrations, noise, like hitting the rumble strips in the road. GM dealer said it was normal. Tachometer was fluctuating 250rpms, constantly. I was concerned when the dealer found nothing. I took the vehicle to a transmission specialist repair shop, the transmission shop said they have repaired over 80 GM vehicles, they all have a bad torque converter which comes apart and the metal destroys the transmission when it circulated through the transmission. GM is telling people it's normal, putting people's lives in jeopardy for a defective part. After talking to other people with gms, this is common. I'm paying out of pocket to have our vehicle repaired. This is the 4 GM we have purchased. We won't be buying anymore till this issue is resolved on an $80,000 vehicle.

I bought a brand new 2016 Suburban. In April of 2018, it had a brand new GM transmission installed. Now, in November of 2019, my mechanic says it has to have another new transmission. I own 4 different GM SUV's, 2 Yukon and 2 Suburban. One Yukon is 2015, one Suburban and one Yukon are 2016, and one Suburban is 2017. Each different GM vehicle has had to have at least one new transmission almost each year...and each new transmission fails after about 110K miles..slightly out of the reach of my warranty. This should not happen, and GM will not do anything about it.

The braking is sluggish at low speeds, my wife has had several near misses because of this. It takes excessive brake pedal pressure to stop the vehicle and has a longer stopping range. This is dangerous and should be addressed by GM and the government Agency having jurisdiction over vehicle safety.

The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban. While driving various speeds, the rpms fluctuated from high to low. The vehicle stalled and was towed to the contact's residence. The failure caused the vehicle to hesitate during acceleration. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the transmission was burned out. Ed rinke Chevrolet Buick GMC (26125 van dyke ave, center line, mi 48015, (866) 461-1170) was contacted and provided pricing and warranty information for a new transmission. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was currently at the independent mechanic's shop. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 135,500.

2016 Chevrolet Suburban has a serious vibration issue. The vehicle vibrates when it stays at a constant and even speed. Seems like when it goes into the 4 cylinder mode. This vibration causes headaches and vertigo when we are on long trips. I have had it in the Chevrolet dealer service department several times and is currently there now. I have read where this is a common issue with this vehicle.

Since purchase, our vehicle has been towed into the dealership because it would not turn off and we had to disconnect the battery. The vehicle did that 2 more times after being towed in. It has had new motor mounts, new rotars, and has been in a GM service center 16 times. The most recent incident was when the vehicle died on a highway with 2 children in the car. Please see attached work history for the vehicle
