This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The vehicle will display -??Service Trailer Braking System, -?? as well as -??Service Front Camera, -?? -??Service Driver Assist System.-?? These messages along with audible alerts will sound while driving. At random intervals, the forward collision system will also activate with no objects in sight. This causes the driver to become distracted or react quickly in unnecessary manner. This can increase risk of collision when the driver becomes distracted. The vehicle has been taken to Chevrolet multiple times and we have been told a faulty wiring harness is the cause. We own two of these vehicles, same make, model and year. This has happened in both vehicles.
My vehicle started to alert me over and over again about my trailer brake system. It just keeps popping up over and over again and beeps every single time. A lot of GMC and Chevy are having this issue. It could cause hazards when I pull a trailer and the trailer brakes don-??t work properly.
The trailer breaking system keeps coming on constantly. It comes on randomly while sitting or driving then will keep doing it over and over. It's very distracting and I don't want it to hurt us if it fails etc.
When turning at speeds below 20 mph, motor stops lights go out, lights and gauges will come back on and car can be started. This has happened two or three times over the last three months but now only five days apart.

A/C has been out for over 2 years. Bought this piece of crap in 2016 and A/C has only worked for 1 year. Can not afford repairs due to having 2 kids in college and still trying to live in ca. I have a 2009 Dodge durango that works perfectly!!!!! A/C had never given me any problems. Called Chevrolet several times to have this fixed and no help at all from the dealer!!! will never buy a Chevrolet again in my life!!!!!
2015-2017 Chevy Suburban, cracked combination transmission fluid oil and ac condenser coolers. These vehicles have a common condition where thermal cycling on the combination transmission fluid oil and ac condenser coolers can create a crack, allowing ac refrigerant to escape and subsequently deactivating the vehicle's air conditioning system which could impact transmission, which could be potential safety hazard if occurred while driving, in which case has happened to our vehicle while it was being operated on highway at speed of 70 mph. Per GM, the warranty for this condition was extended to five (5) years or 60,000 miles, however for most vehicles the warranty went into effect a year before some vehicles may have been sold, in our case it was activated in 4/2019. This being a common issue with this vehicle, GM has never issued a specific recall to address the problem. How can I request this matter be investigated and a recall issued to address the problem.
My ac condenser has a leak. GM issued a special recall if the owner reported it within 60,000 miles. I wasn't lucky enough for my ac to fail within that period nor was I notified that the condenser was a manufacture defect. GM will not fix my ac condenser unless I pay out of pocket $1000.
My Chevy Suburban 2015 I'm having a problem with the brake whenever I come to a complete stop in traffic or in the parking lot or if I'm going slow the brake gets very stiff and cant stop, I often apply more pressure..begging my car to stop, very frightening please I need some redress..as I understand there's a recall for those truck by GM.. ph# [xxx] yours truly [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
My vehicle has an awful vibration to it, that starts at a low speed and continues as speed progresses. Also I have been getting headaches everytime I drive my vehicle. This has been going on for a couple months now and has been taken to tire place but they cant seem to find the issue. Within the last couple of weeks I started putting 2 and 2 together with my headaches coming on when I drive my vehicle.
There is a vibration at the speed of 70-85. My breaking has issues. I press pedal and it feels like its "broke". I try and stop at times (more often than not) and I really have to press and its like the brakes are not stopping my vehicle at all. Very bumpy ride. Should be smoother and I think it has to do with the wheels and vibration. Vehicle was purchased April of 2019 and it seems to get worse. Husband has spoken with dealership and its just kind of blown off. We researched to trouble shoot and found many recalls that describe what is happening.
You wouldn't believe how badly my 2015 Chevy Suburban is responding to a simple daily drive! if you want to see a terrible ride, come to my home town so I can take you on the ride of your life! I had my Suburban at the dealership two weeks ago and they suggested that I change my spark plugs, wires and clean my throttle body and that they didn't see any transmission problems because the car didn't 'throw a code!' on top of downplaying the seriousness of the issue, they charged me a cool $90 for performing a diagnostic that showed absolutely nothing! Chevy needs to seriously answer to this issue. My Suburban is still under powertrain warranty and I feel like Chevy is trying to wait for the warranty to expire so that I will have to come out of pocket for repairs. This is pathetic!
I don't have a complaint about my Suburban, it's a great vehicle. My complaint is after seeing so many news articles about babies being left in cars and dying of heat I believe the NHTSA needs to require all new car seats must be blue tooth capable and a pressure switch in the car seat.....and if the car is cut off for more than 1 minute, but the seat still has a baby in it, then the car should start flashing lights and honking (just like when keys are left in the car). The only way car seat and vehicle manufacturers are going to do this is if the NHTSA requires it-just like backup cameras keep kids from getting run over accidentally this requirement would keep forgetful parents from causing accidental deaths and save lives.
Loss of gps, onstar, xm and compass function. Water has leaked into the roof mounted shark-fin antenna. Vehicle has lost compass, gps, onstar and xm capabilities. Dealer recommends replacing roof mounted antenna. Despite this being a known problem acknowledged by Chevrolet in sb-10058785-9942 this VIN was not included and customer will be charged out of pocket for antenna replacement.
My condenser went out at 96K. I contacted GM and they stated that they had a recall on the condenser. Took the vehicle in to a GM/Chevrolet dealership and they began to inform me that the recall only is for vehicles less than 60K. They stated that GM knows there is a problem but due to mileage my vehicle is not covered. Due to living in the South I can not afford to have a car and not have air. So we fixed the condenser out of pocket. 1st-the condenser part was on a national back order and they stated that it could take up to a month to receive the part. Alert that there is a problem with the manufactory making condensers for GM cars. 2nd-the part was $200-300, although the service was $1100. 3rd-6 months after the replacement of the condenser and all working fine, paying out of pocket. The transmission goes out and the connection is associated with the replacement of the condenser. GM is aware of this issue but only wants to assist with people who mileage is less than 60K. There is obviously a serious problem and GM has not taken ownership! total cost in 2yrs for repairing and fixing 1part that lead to 3parts $4.5K.
28 June took truck in for routine oil change and have cabin filter replaced @ 84K. Less than 24hrs later started driving on hwy and smelling strong odor of gas coming in through my vents thought maybe its exhaust from another vehicle. After parking the truck for a few days I got back in my truck late 3 July and smelled a strong odor of gasoline in the truck and along the outside. 4 July my husband looked under vehicle and took a picture. The smell of gas was not occurring prior to vehicle being serviced and as I keep reading online several other complaints have been filed for this exact thing. This is an extreme danger especially since I have 4 children and this is our daily vehicle. This vehicle could easily catch on fire or cause death due to inhalation. There should be a recall or safety advisory issued for both the 2015 Suburban and 2015 Tahoe as this is a known issue. Chevrolet corporat has been notified case number [xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
