Suburban LT

  • Automatic transmission
  • 91,000 miles

So, I received a letter from GM telling me about this problem. Stating "do not take your vehicle to your Chevrolet dealer as a result of this letter unless you believe that you vehicle has the condition as described." I called my dealership and was told that because my vehicle has 91,000 miles on it, it would not be covered as the letter states the vehicle is to be under 6 years or under 72,000 miles. So where does that leave me???? I guess when the brakes fail we will see if I am dead or have hurt anyone else. Come on GM, get real. This is a safety issue! And these vehicles need to be fixed. I have had this going on for a while. Pulling a trailer and not being able to stop, thank God I know how to drive~ THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL~

2015 Suburban had difficulty stopping at a slow speed. I had to push all the way down on the brake pedal to get it to finally stop. The brake pedal would get stiff and then go all the way down. This happened in reverse as well. I had my children in the vehicle so I had it towed to a Chevy dealership. It's dangerous to drive and I am seeing a significant amount of people with the same complaint on this site. Why is this issue not being addressed by Chevy? A recall needs to be issued! This could have ended very differently!

My brakes get hard like a rock while trying to park or back up, it happened several times before. It went away and now started again. I have read many complaints about this issue just don't understand why there hasn't been a recall issued. It is clear as day there is a problem. I also read about a lawsuit against GM due to this problem and I will be looking further into it to see if it becomes a class action which I feel it should since there are so many of us with this issue and Chevy has turned a blind eye. I love my truck but it has had a few recalls and now this. Not sure about Chevy anymore. I just hope they find a solution fast.

Suburban LTZ 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 61,000 miles

Hard brake pedal and extremely difficult to no braking at slow speed in heavy stop-n-go I70 downhill traffic returning from skiing in CO. Now THAT'S scary!!! I've read similar complaints on your website; this baby is going into the shop ASAP.

Suburban LTZ 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,000 miles

Hard brake pedal and malfunctioning brakes. Unable to stop completely at slow speed (under 25 mph) resulting in $6500 collision with dumb deer standing in road. ABS did not activate and I helplessly watched it happen in slow motion.

After researching this problem, I understand the Government is considering recalling vehicle regarding this problem. Why does it take so long to fix this problem?

Sometimes the brakes are completely inoperable. When I step on the brake it becomes stiff, unmovable brake pedal and total brake loss. I was nearly involved in a collision on 9/18/2018.

Suburban LTZ 5.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,596 miles

Dealer checked and found DTC Code CO25E SYMTOO but found all within specs so nothing was done. Had a few issues like a crunching noise from wheel area while braking but pads were only half done and dealer could not duplicate the issue. Fastforward to 2/25/16 driving in traffic in NYC brake pedal suddenly felt rock hard and vehicle was difficult to stop. Brought to dealer and now the Vaccum Pump has internal failure the vehicle crossed warranty mileage 25 days ago and now has 39,615 miles. Cost of repairs $408.98. Dealer says they have changed about 3 of these already and GM has replaced the Vaccum Pump with a different model since the original was faulty but its not a recall or warranty item. Shame on GM
