We were just driving down the freeway when we heard a noise that sounded like a window was cracked. Finally realized it was a panel behind the front passenger window, that was flapping in the wind. It eventually came off and we called the dealership. They would not pay to have it fixed.
I have owned many of these vehicles in the past and have been very satisfied with their MDBF rates. I've had some issues in the past with the 2008 models, but since then I was a happy customer, until now. I have had to replace 2 out of 4 panels on 1 truck, and all 4 are loose on the other 2015. It's only a matter of time before they blow off on the highway too. The best was when I was driving and the first panel blow off I was driving on the highway. There was no way that I was stopping to retrieve the panel and get myself killed in the process. And besides, the panels aren't supposed to come off on a truck with 40,000 miles. Certainly, the replacement would be covered under my original warranty or my Platinum extended warranty. When I went to my Chevy dealer, from whom I've bought 8 Suburbans in the last 10 years or so, I was told by the service manager that I could not file any sort of warranty claim because I didn't have the old part to exchange. OMG! I was less then polite but only because the service was a woman. Had it not been, I may had left in handcuffs. I called Chevy customer care and was given the same BS. NOT 2 weeks later, the same thing happens on both of my 2015's in the same week. This time I was good because I had both panels. Guess what! Chevy will still not cover it because it's not considered a "warranty-able item" This is not a defect on Chevy's end and that I'd be responsible for the cost of the parts and labor. Chevy was kind enough to reach out to the dealership and ask them if they would cover the labor charges, and they graciously agreed to offer me " financial assistance " . Jesus in heaven, help me.
Bought the car from Shottenkirk in Waukee Iowa 4 months ago, as a certified pre owned, the plastic pieces behind the left rear door started to come off at high speeds, 2 other people I know have had the same problems with their 2015 tahoe, and 2015 GMC yukon xl. Was told it was a common problem and would be covered under warranty, received a phone call telling me that my 36,000 mile warranty was up and it would now cost me $125 to fix, I have owned the car for 4 months no abuse, garaged daily and washed every day. Since this is a cosmetic problem that I have no control over and it is a fairly new car with low miles I am not very happy with the outcome of this, knowing that the others could come off at any time and also need to be replaced. If this is an on going problem with this model why isn't there a recall on the problem instead of nickeling and dimming the consumer to death on an already expensive truck.
Simply put, The design to attach these panels is beyond poor. The clips used to hold them in place are not very strong. I own 4 of these vehicles and have had to replace applique panels on all 4.

The panels between & behind the windows are put on with cheap clips. When any air gets behind them they start flapping &making noise. Rocket Wash car wash will pull them completely off! When you pay $70,000 for a vehicle you should be able to drive thru any carwash you want w/o pieces flying off your vehicle! I have lost 3 & all are loose! Very aggravating. The panels have been ordered for weeks now but still haven't come in. I have a feeling that even when replaced will happen again because of the design.
