Clear coat began to fade approximately two years ago. I thought it just needed a good wax. Waxed it and it was still not shiny. I took it to my auto body guy to look at. Said the clear coat was gone and the paint was cracking.

It needed to be repainted. Quoted me $1500 for the hood and small area in front of the sunroof. Since then the hood is worse and the entire roof needs to be repainted. So I should probably double that, if not more. This is ridiculous. GM should absolutely cover the cost of repair.

Paint clear coat is totally gone, creating this unremovable white haze. Florida has a class action lawsuit ongoing. After further investigation into other forums, this clearly should be a nationwide paint recall and GM should take corrective action and repaint vehicle at their cost.

Clear coat peeling and cracking. I have a 2007 model Ram that the paint looks better on it with 224,000 miles on it.

The paint on the hood started to fade crack and look like it had been sanded down waiting for body work, and the same above the window on roof. I had the hood repainted because I couldn’t stand to look at it anymore. Now I need to do the roof. I called Chevy to inquire because my brother said his did something similar and it was covered. Because I called after 100K, it isn’t covered under warranty. However, I have seen several other vehicles in Tungsten Metallic that have the same issues. I tell them to make sure they call so it is covered ASAP. It’s ridiculous that the entire car looks brand new except these two areas. Chevy needs to do something about this.

paint on hood & roof is cracking / defective paint on hood & roof is cracking / defective

2015 Chevrolet Suburban has major paint problems, yet GM will not accept any responsibility. Clearcoat/paint is peeling off, creating a white, scratched, dull look. A known, documented paint-clearcoat problem in all of their dark trucks and SUVs according to various service writers. GM claims this is normal "wear and tear" and refused to do anything.

Suburban with 30000 miles has paint fading on the hood and roof. Dealer will not honor fixing it. I received a quote from paint shop for $3000. What happened to the Suburban, used to be rock solid. Never again.

The clear coat and/or paint has cracked on the hood and roof of the car. Every dealer I’ve been to said it is a common complaint on all cars with the Sable Brown exterior. I’m trying to work with GM to get this issue fixed, but continually get a run around. Currently there is no recall.

paint on hood & roof is cracking / defective paint on hood & roof is cracking / defective

We purchased this 2015 Suburban LT new from Lone Star Chevrolet in Houston in Jan. 2016. Earlier this summer we noticed the paint problem on our hood which looked like someone had used a scouring pad on the paint. It turns out the roof has the same issue and it's a defect in the paint and or clear coat based on other consumer complaints I've read today from Chevy owners.

GM has to know they have a major problem with their vehicle paint process from at least the 2015 year model and if they want to keep loyal Chevy owners as customers they need to step up and offer help to us through the dealers that sold us the cars & or trucks.
