This is a problem that should not be happening, but I am finding that it is with all Chevrolet Trucks and Suburbans of this model series. My sons 2007 Chevy Truck has the same issue. It goes to show how far down the best-in-class Chevrolet products have fallen in quality.
This problem affects drivers focus, because of all the noise it causes. It may affect the direct of the pop out airbags. Since the pieces are broken and falling literally off the dash, it could be a threat in a wreck if the pieces are flying off the dash into you face and body under the impact momentum.
This is serious enough to be a recall issue. It is not that the dash is just cracked in all these vehicles, but that it is literally falling apart before the drive train warranties have even expired. It is a lawsuit if someone gets hurt by this debris.
They want $1500 to replace it, but the replacement is not a new better designed dash, but the one with the same breakage issues. So why spend the money on something that is going to start falling apart again. This is my 4th Suburban. I will not be purchasing another Chevrolet product - especially not an electric vehicle.
