Car began loud ticking and engine noise and lost power. Horrible smell from exhaust. Had to have it towed. Was told it was bad lifters and engine would have to be rebuilt or replaced. We chose to replace because it was $1000 difference in price and included a 100,000 mile/3 year warranty. Contacted GM/Chevrolet because I had done research and knew this was a common problem. Was told by the Service Advisor it affected 2006-2012 models. Was told by GM that they would not cover any of the cost because no service bulletins had been issued. I did my own research on Chevrolet service bulletins and found 7 that had the same issues. When I replied to them with that information, they told me they would no longer address any correspondence from me concerning this issue. I have owned only Chevrolet vehicles in my 20 years of driving (I've owned 6 of them), and am highly disappointed that they are handling this in this manner. Within a week of getting the vehicle back after spending the $6700, the "Service Battery Charging System" message and "Service Tire Monitoring System" lights have come on.
