On Sunday, March 20, 2005, a distracted driver failed to notice a red traffic light and slammed into my 2002 Suburban at 40-45 mph as I drove through an intersection in my hometown. My vehicle took a direct, ferocious hit on the driver's-side front door, but the side-impact air bag did not deploy.
