When parking the Suburban, the brakes pushed through, the ABS came on and they would not stop the car. We hit a cement light post, causing damage to the front bumper and the front of the vehicle amounting to over $1,000. Took the Suburban to have the ABS brakes checked and corrected. Was corrected and the same problem is occurring. Anytime we are traveling at a slow speed and try to stop or are stopping at red lights, stop signs, going down a hill, the ABS brakes come on and the vehicle is very difficult to stop.

PE05020 - recall for anti lock brakes - 1999 Chevrolet Suburban. My vehicle is experiencing these symptoms and seem to be getting worse. When using the brakes at slow speeds the anti-lock brakes engage and slip on dry pavement we had the sensors cleaned as we were informed to do by GMC but that didn't help there is a recall on all 2000 vehicles for the same occurrence but not on the 1999 vehicles which we have. We called customer service for GMC about the recalls on the 2000S and that ours is having the same symptoms but they informed us not enough complaints have been made about the 99S to include them in this recall I feel its a serious situations if the anti-lock brakes fail I don't care which year it is.

Brakes on 1999 Chevy Suburban K1500 have been problem since day 1. dealer ( now defunct) spent much time and money trying to fix. 5 sets of pads, 2 sets of rotors etc. Etc. Vehicle now will not stop below 10 mph unless anti-lock is disabled (pulling fuse) GM has acknowledged problem in similar vehicles as corroded anti-lock sensors but refuses to include this same model, thereby eliminating any fix by them. This known safety issue is causing strife as my wife now refuses to drive a vehicle with questionable brakes. The problem GM faces with anti-lock brakes is a major one and could cost them billions if admitted. Is there any way to get some action on this?

Wheel bearing - wheel speed sensor ABS needed to be replaced at a cost of $366.87 Suburban would not stop at slow speeds. No accident, but truck rolled into an intersection causing a near miss.
I am experiencing the same problem listed on the recall for ABS on my truck. The ABS is kicking in at unwanted times and takes forever to stop. I called the dealership about the recall and mine is not in the recall even though I am experiencing the same problems. Why is this model year not included in the recall" what do we need to do to add this model to the recall list? when you are stopping, you can hear the ABS kicking in and then you begin to slide. I ended up going through a stop sign at the end of our street and fortunately there was no accident but who knows about the next time. What can we do"
