Suburban 4WD 8-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles
: the contact stated while driving 10mph and below, the ABS engaged and the vehicle did not stop. The vehicle hit a dumpster, but only received minor damage to the vehicle's bumper. The incident happened on private property, therefore no police were called. The vehicle's ABS system was replaced and cleaned on four prior occasions, but still has the same problem. There is a NHTSA recall, # 05V379000, concerning the ABS. The vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however, was not included in the recall due to the VIN.

While driving straight at 25 mph on residential street. The steering wheel locked and brakes were then applied. Speed reduced. Brake pedal would not depress on 2nd "pump" of brake pedal and experienced loss of brakes. Used emergency brake pedal to bring vehicle to complete stop. Engine is still running. "check gage" lamp is on. Steering wheel is still locked. Had to turn off engine and restart engine to unlock steering wheel and regain use of brakes. This system "lock up" would have resulted in a major accident if this occured at highway speed or if a turn was needed or while a turn was been executed.

Steering sensor replaced once. Vehicle pulls to right at all speedsall the time dealer states that vehicle meets factory specs. Serious intermittent drive train vibration happens at any speed and may persist for 40 or 50 miles. Have been to two dealers for a total of 7 trips. Problems persist. Chevrolet contacted - no help.
