The contact owns a 1995 Chevrolet Suburban equipped with cooper discoverer H/T tires, size P235/75R15 (na). While driving 70 mph, the rear passenger side tire separated. The tire was replaced with a spare. While driving approximately 70 mph, the rear driver side tire blew out. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that the tire tread separated and needed to be replaced. The tires were replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate tire failure mileage was 12,000 and the vehicle failure mileage was 240,000.
Firestone steeltex at tires, in size 245/75R16 I have experienced tread separation on two different occasions in the past years years. Currently have one additional tire in my possession that was exhibiting the same symptoms of impeding failure. In both incidents, thankfully there was no personal injury, but each incident did result in significant damage to my vehicle in excess of $3000. 1st tire was returned to Firestone for their inspection in August 2002, Firestone claimed no fault or defect. 2nd tire was lost, 3rd tire still in my possession.
Attorney writing on the behalf of 4 accidents in which he states were caused by tread separation on Goodyear 16 inch load range E steel belted radial tires, this particular police report states that the left rear tire experienced tread separation, causing driver to lose control of the vehicle, vehicle experienced a rollover in which there were 2 injuries and one death, consumer had stated that the right rear tire experienced a blowout prior to this one, owner of vehicle is susan ann gilbert, 5317 N 46th street, phoenix AZ 85018, 602-840-2986.

Firestone steeltex R4S tires, P245/75R16, dot vn11B1A045, experienced vibration while driving, after driving a shorter distance the tread separated on the right front tire and the innter layer protruded into the wheel well creating a whipping noise, consumer replaced all tires.
After market tire. Tread on the left right tire sidewall separated at highway speeds. Firestone has been notified. Firestone steeltex radial at tire (LT245 75 R16).
LT245/75R16 tread separation on one tire, tread didn't come off but was wrinkled. Just another datapoint for you. The tires have been replaced, but the spare is still the orginal of that series.( dot number: Vn11B3A tire size: 245/75R16 )
Tire tread was delaminating from the core. Happened at 33617 miles on initial tire and then again on second tire at 39539 miles. Replaced all tires except the spare at that point. This tire has not been included in the Firestone recall at this point.( dot number: N/a tire size: LT245/75R1 )
PE 00 020/tire tread separation: Right rear tire experienced a tread separation while traveling at highway speed of 65 mph, driver and three passengers in a 1995, Chevrolet Suburban. Original equipment; P245/75R16; and dot# vn11B1A165. No injury reported and Firestone notified.
PE00020; tire tread separation: While driving about 65 mph tread on the driver's rear side tire came off. Driver was able to control vehicle. Tire was on a 1995, Suburban, tire size lt24575R16, original tire equipment. About one month later, tread came off the rear passenger's side tire. Firestone paid for damages done to truck. Owner received a proration on the tires.
PE00020; original equipment on a Chevrolet suburan, tread is separating from tires. Both rear Firestone steeltex R4S II tires (24575R16) experienced tread separation, the consumer replaced all 4 tires and these tires were not included in the recall. Dot#vn11B1B501
PE00 020; consumer was traveling about 50mph on highway and consumer heard a clanking noise behind vehicle, and felt a vibration. Pulled over, and front driver's side tire tread had separated. There were no injuries. Then, next day cons pulled into a tire place, and employee told her that right passenger's tire tread was beginning to untrend. Tire were firestones at allterrain and, tire size was 245-75R16.
