While driving, consumer rode over a small pothole and a weld broke in the steering column which caused the steering wheel assembly to break and fall into the consumer's lap.
Air bag light came on in instrument panel indicating failure. The wiring harness on the tilt wheel broke (fatugued). Dealer said that I used the tilt mechanism too much and that it was not intended to be used each entry/exit. I commented that this assembly should have been designed to prevent this type of failure since the air bag operation was impaired by it. Dealer disagreed, refused to contact Chevrolet in my behalf and charged me over $240 to replace the part. This is a very critical assembly and never should have failed from use in this manner. I have the failed component and can send it to you for examination.
