Truth is, we love the truck and don't want to get rid of it. We haven't completed the repairs yet, but we're close. Neighbor caught the fire before the truck burned to the ground in my driveway. It hadn't been driven for three days when the fire started and no one was even near the truck. I can find no mention of a similar situation with anyone elses truck of similar year and have heard no other stories saying that they had the same problem. Truck still runs great and drives like it always did, but smells like burned plastic and smoke. We wont be getting rid of this truck anytime soon, it just runs too well to go throwing it in the trash and we just rebuilt the original transmission at 225000. I am so pissed about the fire but aside from dishing the money to get it back to what it was, I don't think there is any other solution.
