I drove the car home and within the first 20 miles the oil use gauge said 99%, the second 20 driven miles the oil gauge said 98%, third 20 driven miles the oil gauge said 97%, the 4th 20 miles the oil gauge said 96%. This means after 80 driven miles I experienced a 4% oil consumption, which really blows my mind. I have owned many new years cars over the past 55 years and this is the 1st time I ever experienced any oil loss between oil changes.
I called AutoNation Chevrolet in Orlando and never got a call to go thru to set up a meeting to discuss the obvious solutions. Since this 1.4 L motor was a oil consumption disaster since 2014, GM has had 4 years to solve the cause. I will demand a 2018 engine replacement solely for the purpose of seeing if this serious oil consumption demands a total recall of these engines, and get GM to put a more reliable engine in these cars.
Opel has made engines of this size for a very long time and did not have this serious oil consumption, so why didn't GM go with a reliable performer? Tech specs on this engine are very current, butt, I do not know if there is a small turbo that is over pressured on this engine, which could account for the excessive oil consumption. I can't find any reliable online detailed specifications on this particular engine.
