2013 CHEVEROLET SPARK- Consumer doesn't feel safe driving vehicle. Consumer received safety recall letter- GM Recall # A222359300- Hood Striker & Hood Latch Assembly. Consumer contacted Chevrolet and was told the part is not available and they do not know when it will available. Recall notice attached.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Spark. The contact stated that the primary hood latch failed to lock. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-222-1020 and stated that the contact would have to pay for the repair. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Spark. The contact stated that while driving at 63 mph, the hood latch fractured and shattered the entire windshield. A police report was filed and no injuries were reported. The contact stated that NHTSA campaign number: 14V593000 (latches/locks/linkages) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was not repaired due to the part not being available. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 17,000.
