Check engine light came on 03/12/2018 car started "bucking", hesitating and stalling. When I got back to work my car wouldn't start. Got it jumped thinking it was the battery went to both Napa and AutoZone both said it was a Mass Air Flow sensor. Went to dealership and bought a new one for $180. Replaced it, light went off of course since I disconnected the negative battery terminal.
All was fine and well this today 03/15/2018, check engine light came on again car starting acting like before and went back to AutoZone. This time around they said it was a P0171 said I was running too lean/too much air. Checked over all the things it could have been, oil cap, dip stick, air filter compartment ensuring all were tight. Wires were good, no leaks any where. Inspected the Air Cleaner Intake Duct Hose and found out it was cracked all the way around. Found out from my extended warranty that this is a normal problem, the piece normally cracks/breaks anywhere between 45 and 55k. If this is known from both the warranty and Chevy manufactures why isn't this put in the manual or even inspected and the customer be notified when ever they go in for a oil change, or air filter change since the hose is literally right there?
What genius thought of putting a plastic hose right next to a metal transmission?. Best part of all is now my warranty coverage are saying it may not be covered at all after he was the one to tell me about the problem and the commonality of it? Bought it brand new and kept up with all changes, fills, flushes.`
