Sonic LT 1.4L?

Car wasn't blowing heat right, it took forever to get the heat to even be a bit warm, then when car was stopped a lights, or stopped, it would blow very cold. My mom told me she looked at the antifreeze fluid when she filled the wiper fluid & noticed it was very low. So told me the kind of antifreeze I needed & that putting fluid in would probably solve the problem, unless there was an underlying bigger problem. I never saw any fluid on the ground, ever.

I took the car for an oil change at the dealer & mentioned this, in order to make sure they would put antifreeze in it, was NOT told anything about a water pump recall & was told that they changed oil & replaced any needed fluids...BUT the problem still was no heat. My Mom checked fluid level again & either they did NOT replace it as stated or it was already out within a day...So, I have replaced fluid a great many times now, have same problem & just can't seem to find recall about water pump & fluid leakage. I work HARD & Don't want my car Damaged! If Anyone can send me a link for the recall notice, I would Greatly appreciate it.

I also have a few other problems too...But those will be in Separate posts...Thanks!

Sonic 1.4L Turbo

  • Manual transmission
  • 50,000 miles

My 2013 Chevy Sonic had a heater issue. It was strange: the heater would stop working when I was at a stop light, but worked a bit when the car was moving. It turned out that the coolant for the car was mostly GONE. (None was visible in the reservoir tank.) After this I had a notice from the dealership that the water pumps are being recalled on this car.

The dealer had to replace the water pump. It worked well after that. Looks like the water coolant is used for the heat ex-changer, and when the coolant is low, at idle it would not deliver heat to the cabin.

I had these issues already with this car even though it is only 2 years old: - Water pump failed (see above) - ECM module broke (computer module; the car won't start at all) - And the latest: a few days ago, my clutch went out. The car is at the dealer now, and it is costing me $1239.

I am no longer trusting this car's reliability.
