- Summary
- This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a harsh shift or illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P0716 or P0717 stored in the Transmission Control Module. Technician will need to check circuit 1984. Technician should use tool J 44152 on the engine side of the transmission inline 20-way connector. Technician should install a test light on terminal E and V. If the test light does not light unplug the Transmission Control Module connector and check for continuity across pins 45 and 49. If there is no continuity replace the Transmission Control Module and the Input Speed Sensor. If there is continuity across pins 45 and 49 replace the Input Speed Sensor only. Technician should contact General Motors Technical Assistance Center for further assistance if the vehicle returns with the same concern and Diagnostic Trouble Code P0717 resets.
