We were almost to our destination when the truck started displaying a "loss of power" code, then it completely died, leaving us stranded at midnight on a very dark stretch of road with our 9 year old daughter. Of course it took AAA 2 hours to get a truck to us (we were 20 minutes outside of Parker and 15 minutes from Havasu....completely worthless and unreliable company!!) The next day we had an INDEPENDENT and reliable tow truck company tow the truck to the dealership, where we were told the cost would be $10,000 to fix it. The CP4 injection pump blew out and needs a new injection pump, injectors and fuel rails. However the dealership would only replace the parts with the same defective parts!!
So... why would we do that?? The problem comes from the pump not being able to function properly with diesel in the US, if you replace with the same pump and continue to use fuel from the US (the only diesel we can use) the problem is going to happen again. We did not know about this hidden issue with our truck, had we known we would have had it fixed prior to the catastrophic failure which solely led to us incurring an unreasonable amount of cost to fix the problem. We were told by our diesel mechanic that we should be able to recoup some of our cost due to a class-action lawsuit, however, I do not know where to access that information. We need help, does anyone know how to be included in the class-action or how to claim some of that money? Thank you!!
