This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The consumer had the same problem as NHTSA campaign # 04V045000 certain sport utility vehicles, pickup trucks, and passenger vans fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard no. 135, "passenger car brake systems." Some of these vehicles were produced with an out-of-specification brake hydro-boost housing relief valve bore. The dealership informed the consumer that the recall did not apply to his vehicle. The vehicle was just 3831 miles out of warranty, but the consumer noticed leaking during the warranty period. (brake resevior)
While applying the brake pedal the brakes failed. This caused consumer's vehicle to collide with another vehicle. Consumer took vehicle to dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that speed control sensor needed to be replaced and he replaced it, however the problem recurred. The dealer has replaced the rotors due to rust, the pads, brake bleeder screws due to rust, the right front wheel speed sensor and the left front wheel speed sensor.
When the consumer applied the brake the pedal went down to the floor and there was no power steering. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the technician determined that the steering belt failed. Please provide any additional information.
The ABS sensor failure resulted in service brakes failing to stop the vehicle immediately. The consumer had to depress the brake pedal several times to stop the vehicle. The brake pedal was hard when this occurred. The problem was also present while being repaired.
While driving at any speed the vehicle drifted to the left and right. The owner made contact with the dealer multiple times, however the problem still existed. The vehicle pulled to the right and left while in motion. The right wiper did not clean the windshield. There was a rattle noise which had come from the dash area on the left side while the vehicle was in motion. The dealer found four missing bolts under the steering. Due to the vehicle going to the left, the front calipers were removed, to check movement, the rear drums for dragging, binding, adjust and reassemble.
When the vehicle brakes were applied the brake pedal went to the floor and the vehicle experienced extended stopping distance. The dealer replaced the hydraulic booster. The booster had to be replaced again because of the same failure.
