Left rear tire became "lumpy" tire dealer inspected and said cords have separated replaced tire with different manufacturer. Failed tire was an adventurer futura 265/75 R16 load range E. tire was on Chevy 3500 single axle 2wd.
The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet K3500. The tire manufacturer is nankang, brand name is Geo trac, and tire line is lt/225/75/R16 (na). Upon inspection of the tires, the contact noticed that four out of the six had cracks on the exterior of the sidewall. He is in the process of notifying the manufacturer. The contact still has possession of the tires. The tire failure mileage was 1,300. The vehicle failure mileage was 72,803.update 09/10/08 updated 09/19/08.
The contact stated the ABS sensor has been replaced twice. This failure almost caused two accidents. Both ABS sensors malfunctioned within 10,000 miles. The dealership replaced the first sensor because it was oxidized to the hub assembly. The second sensor was cleaned. There was a NHTSA recall campaign 05V379000 concerning the anti lock brakes, but the contact's state was not included in the recall. The tire were cupped and had to be replaced due to a vibration coming from the vehicle. Updated 01/11/06.
At 36,900 miles I had the rear and front pinion berrings replaced on my drive train. I also replaced the tires which were worn out. The vehicle is not driven much (4.5 years old) as indicated by the mileage. I also experienced my accelorator being "stiff" when I attempt to depress it. I think GM needs to look into their shoddy transmission components. I also had the rear seal replaced at approximately 10,000 miles.
The right rear tire tread separated while driving 70 mph resulting in loss of control and an accident. A passenger died and an other was in critical condition.
While driving consumer heard noise, vehicle was taken to dealership and diagnosed with a bad tire on the front left side, resulting in wear on other tire, consumer took vehicle back to original dealership and Firestone co. For repairs, but did not receive repairs to tire, no specific tire information was given.
Truck started vibrating, took a tire to a Firestone dealer, they said that happens when tires aren"T rotated properly, I work at a auto service repair center, and my tires are rotated every 6000 mi faithfully, so I disagree. (tiresize: P265R75R16)
Front tires started to show noticeable wear, cause could have been that the front end was out of alignment. They rotated the back tires to front and realigned the front end. Same wear appeared at 5000 miles. Goodyear told me the 23575R16 must be 35lbs on all four tires. The label on the door says 28lbs front end and 35lbs on rear tires. Goodyear says the low inflation has caused permanent damage.

Goodyear said low inflation cause permanent damaged. The pressure is 35lbs on all four tires, although the labels says 28lbs on front and 35lbs on the rear.
Brought truck into auto dealership and Firestone dealership, and both told me that my tire is delaminating. Both told me this is from driving with a flat tire. This tire has never been flat, nor has it ever been low. This is the second issue I have had with the Firestone tires on this truck. (tiresize: P265/75R)
While driving on highway, consumer heard banging sound and vehicle began to handle roughly. Looked in rear view mirror and saw a piece of tire came off. Firestone, steel tex radial, lt 245/75 R 16. Blowout caused damage to vehicle.
We purchased this Chevrolet dually truck in Nov 00. The two front tires had excessive wear and were replaced by the dealer after two weeks of trying to locate them. We have found that Goodyear no longer makes these tires. The truck was mfg 03/00 and the tires have a dot # that indicated the tires were mfg 07/00. We will not be able to obtain replacements should we have a blowout. Understand a class action suit was filed Dec 01 re these tires. Chevrolet customer service has given us the runaround for the last four weeks and refuses to do anything about these defective tires (total of 7 on the truck). I don't believe the truck sat for four months with no tires in the beginning. Also someone needs to do something about the total lack of assistance with chev customer service, no return calls, lack of research and in general, a complete runaround over a period of four weeks. Slight to heavy vibration occurs at highway speeds of beginning at 64mph to 78mph. Pickup has been do dealer 4 times since purchased new on 07/28/01 regarding vibration. Dealer keeps rebalancing the tires and this does not correct the problem. The pickup will be in the dealer's shop again this week, only this time they are looking for drivetrain problems. The vibration at highway speeds appears to be a reoccuring problem with the Silverado since introduction based on other consumer complaints.
Pickup has been to dealer 4 times since purchased new 7/28/01 for vibration which appears to be out of balanced tires. Tires found out of balance by dealer, but problem is not corrected. Vibration occurrs between 60mph to 77mph. (dot number: 24575R16 tiresize: LT245/75R/)
