I was backing out of the parking spot I had been all day at work and the passanger front wheel would not straighten out. I could not pull forward or backward, I was stuck in the center of the parking lot. Then have it towed to a repair shop to have it looked at. The tie rod had stripped and come off. The repair person told me that the driver front also was stripped and would have soon failed as well. They were both replaced and the truck was aligned. This was an unexpected expense, there was no indication by myself or my husband that anything was loose or coming apart. I was one block away from getting on the interstate to go home. As I understand it I could have lost control of my truck had the tie rod failed while I was driving.
Consumer was traveling about 50mph on highway and was approaching a dip in the road, went across the dip, and immediately heard a noise coming from left wheel. Vehicle felt like left side went down.he turned steering wheel right, and vehicle didn't turn. Vehicle just locked down in position. Went into a water ditch, hit enbankment, and went up to the enbankment. Wheel lugs, bolt: Nuts came off. There were no injuries. Tie rod on driverside broke.
