This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Intermittently when brakes are applied pedal is normal, however, there is extended stopping distance. Dealer has inspected vehicle. Consumer states brake pedal is also soft.
While driving about 35 mph stepped on brakes pedal to slow down vehicle, but brakes did not operate, and vehicle kept running without stopping. Inspected for repairs, but nothing was found.
Vehicle was going 65mph. Consumer was trying to brake to slowdown, and it wouldn't slow down. Each time consumer's foot came off brake, vehicle sped up. Consumer pulled off road, and couldn't take it out of drive. Vehicle ran into some gravel, and the spun back end around. Vehicle went over a 100ft. Ravine, taking out 2 trees, and landing on some rocks. Upon impact, air bags never deployed. General Motors is sending a investigator out.
Consumer was traveling approximately 55mph and was on interstate in far right lane trying to exit, and vehicle ran up on grass, brakes couldn't stop vehicle from hitting the post. Consumer hit face on windshield. Steering wheel was bent back at a 90 degree angle. Vehicle never stopped on time, it would glide. Vehicle had ABS brakes, and no warning ever indicated that something was wrong. Vehicle was totaled, and consumer didn't think anything was wrong with vehicle, it was never taken to dealer.
Nti-lock brakes; when pulling into parking space at work, there is a manhole cover that has to travel over. When vehicle hits this on a right hand turn, while stopping at a constant rate, ABS kicks in and increases stopping distance, which could result in a crash. Please provide any additional information.
While driving at a low rate of speed, when the brakes are firmly applied, the vehicle keeps moving although it feels as is the pedal has pressure at first. After about a second, the pedal starts to pulsate as if the ABS is working, yet the vehicle does not slow effectively and it sounds as if there is a grinding coming from the wheels. This has happened on several occasions. The dealer was made aware of the problem, but claimed that they checked the system out and nothing was wrong. After 17000 miles I still have the problem occasionally when braking firmly.
Consumer was traveling at approximately 60 mph when traffic slowed ahead of him. Consumer attempted to apply brakes to slow vehicle down. There was resistance behind brake pedal, but brake system failed to engage, causing him to rear end a vehicle in front of him.
The rear ABS system when it hits a small bump in the road the ABS system removes almost all brake pressure allowing the pedal to fall down and dramatically increasing stopping distance-this could have easily caused a wreck and has happened on multiple occasions. My dealer said it was normal and refuses to look at it-but no other GM vehicle with ABS that I have has had this problem.
Had applied gas to speed up and it would go back. Engine kept revving, but remained at same speed. ABS would kick in on any slippery surface. Right front tire grabbed, hard, and then locked up when brakes were applied. At dealership all brake parts were repaired or replaced.
On four occasions when applying brakes pedal would go to floor and jump back up, causing loss of braking. Vehicle been in dealer's shop on two occasions, and nothing could be found.
Driving home from work. Came up to intersection with stop light. Light changed to red and tried to apply brakes.brake pedal went all the way to floor and vehicle would not stop. Vehicle ran thru red light and intersection narrowly missing collision with other vehicle.road surface dry and clear. Temp approx 35. Contacted dealership and they said no problem. This is the second occurence of this type since I've owned the vehicle. Cannot continue to drive with no confidence in brakes. Fortunately no injuries or fatalities have occured however this condition is a time bomb waiting to go off.
Consumer took vehicle to dealership for recall notice 00V345000. Dealership informed consumer that there were no parts available, and to drive vehicle as it was. Please provdie any additional information/attachments.
When driving at any speed and upon depressing brake pedal to make a normal stop, brakes slightly catch. Brake pedal goes to floorboard, causing extended stopping distance. Brakes kick in, causing vehicle to come to a skided stop. Consumer has contacted dealer, dealer unable to determine cause of problem.
Went to the store. The brakes was fine had a hard pedal. Came back out started the truck. Put foot on the brake pedal. The pedal went to the floor. The ABS light came on. Put the truck in reverse truck started to back up. Put truck back in park. Called GM. Put the truck in the shop. The pedal went to the floor with little pressure over the weekend. GM says no problem found and showed me another truck about like mine had the same problem. I drove several other trucks had hard pedal on them. I think there is a problem with these trucks and will not take mine back unless they address the problem. They are saying that nothing is wrong and was not wrong. Although I have 7 witnesses to the problem. Please help before someone gets hurt in these trucks. Thank you.
