ABS system motor continues to run when vehicle is shut off. Vehicle has been repaired by dealer, however problem still exists. A tsb has been issued on vehicle's make and model. Consumer states that the brake now locks up when not pressed. Transmission failed at 62251 miles, reverse, 2nd, and overdrive do not work, dealer has recall on this as long as vehicle is under warrany, the reverse drum shell failed, this part was made soft and is replaced by a harder part.
ABS light stay on and continue to run. Module was diconnected to keep battery from wearing down. Vehicle doesn't have ABS, and regular braking system could be affected. Dealer stated this was a common problem. Pump or module will need to be replaced.
Ea-01-013; when driving and applying brakes to make a gradual stop, consumer notice da noise coming from underneath the hood. Brakes kicked in and then released, causing extended stopping distances. Consumer has yet to contact the dealer.

Brakes are bad and very soft, when hitting pedal, it takes a while for truck to stop. Consumer states pedal has lots of slack, on panic stops the brake pedal goes to the floor, brake pads are okay.
While driving could step on the brakes pedal and brakes will not activate. Had happened a few times. When not driving brakes will feel normal, but there is no sign when the brakes are applied.
Consumer had taken vehicle into dealer for routine maintenance and was told that vehicle had a cracked frame. ABS module failed. Sending unit module failed.
Vehicle will not go into drive after it sits for a while. Vehicle will start up, but once it goes in drive engine will rev, but no movement. Problem seems to be intermittent. Dealer couldn't find anything wrong with vehicle. Consumer is considering getting a second opinion. When hitting bumps and applying the brakes, there is a noise. Accelerator pedal sticks, dealer replaced the throtle body. Plastic bezel at tailgate handle came off, delaer reinstalled.
Consumer contacted dealer in reference to recall 00V345000, dealer did not perform recall repairs, and informed consumer that work had been done. Consumer took vehicle to another dealer, original dealer billed manufacturer for repair work.
This vehicle was rebuilt and the dealer tells me it has a "warranty block" on the VIN. I understand why this is done but I am told that this also blocks any recall campaign work from being done under warranty. This vehicle has not had any campaign work done to it. Is it legal for GM to not pay for the repairs to the brake system and seat belt system on this truck?
After turning vehicle off motor/control module for ABS was still operating/running. Concordia automart examined vehicle and determined that control module had failed. Local Chevrolet dealership stated that this was a common problem in Chevrolet trucks. Please provide any additional information/attachments.
Since ownership of vehicle, consumer has experienced intermittent brake problems, ABS and brake warning lights come on, consumer took vehicle into dealership to have vehicle inspected, the problem was fixed but consumer was advised that brakes were not covered under warranty therefore the charge for fixing problem was $925.15 consumer then contacted manufacturer on 4-6-01 and was told that a resolution would take 48 hours, as of 4-19-01 still no resolution, consumer was advised by manufacturer that dealer was contacted and the dealer states they had no record of vehicle or service.
I contacted Chevrolet about the fauilure of the control module. The customer service people did not seem to think that this was very important that the module failed, nor could they tell me why it failed, or if it would fail again leaving my truck without the ABS working.
I was driving at about 30mph, aloud humming noise started, and my ABS light came on.I turned off the ignition, but the noise continued.I found the humming noise coming from under the truck, on the drivers side, under door area.there is a black"box" with 2 electrical plugs.it was necessary to pull one of the plugs to get the humming to stop.but now my ABS light and my brake lights are on all the time on dash.took the truck to original dealership, and was told that the ABS pump and module both went bad.I was told that the cost to repairs would be $1685.66.I just can't believe that both parts went bad.the truck is only 2 years old.now I am driving with my truck in this condition, because I don't have enough available cash on hand to have the repairs done.(2) both drivers side and passenger side windows rattle when they are down.it doesn't matter how far down the windows are.I'm waiting for them to break.it sounds as if they are ready to fall off the track.this has been a problem since I purchased the truck.I told the dealer about it, but nothing was ever done to correct the problem.(3)also, on the front passenger door, there is an air leak when I am driving, again told dealer, and nothing was done.(4)on the third door on right side, rear, water leaks in around glass.took it back to dealer, & was told they couldn't find the reason for the water leak.still continues to leak, when it rains or I wash the truck.another problem I have is with the truck hydroplaneing in the rain.this has also been going on since I purchased truck new in Feb.1999.lost total control on one occasion.truck went completely sideways on roadway.I was traveling at about 50mph.,in a 60mph zone.I was in traffic at the time, the other vehicles around me realzed the situation, and backed off giving me room.when I finally regained control, I pulled off of the highway.I was very badly shaken from the experience (tiresize: P265-75R16)( dot number: Tire size: P265-75R16 )
When applying brakes vehicle shakes and pulls to the right. Steering column will vibrate, and rotors have been turned but, problem was still there. Dealership was aware of problem.
ABS brake system is out this is a very common problem on 1999 Chevrolet trucks. The system has a internal short circuit and the ABS pump runs with key turned off. The system shuts done a ABS does not work. The repair bill is 1000 dollars to fix this problem and ost people pull thhe fuse instead of spending that kind of money.. this problem is a major expense and common problem is there a recall in the works for this problem.
