I understand from reading that these ABS modules go out often. Anything relating to the brakes would seem to be a saftey issue. Not to mention that the part itself is over $700 at the dealer which is the only place you can get it. The location seems to be a prime place for water to leak inside the module.

While driving home, the ABS light came on in my dashboard. I pulled over and there was a loud buzzing noise coming from under the truck. This is the ABS pump running continuously. After driving home (1 mile from where the light came on) I turned off my truck. The noise continued to run. I disconnected the battery terminal and the noise stopped. I have contacted GM concerning this and have not received any help thus far. It concerns me that a major component of my brake system would fail at such low mileage. This could have been dangerous had the roads been snow or ice covered. Please help me in this problem. I am not alone in this problem with my truck. There are numerous other owners that have posted their problems on the internet. This needs to be taken care by GM as soon as possible. I am not currently driving my truck until I hear something stating that it is safe to drive with a malfunctioning brake system.

Pump motor relay in ebcm shorted causing pump motor to remain on. Needs ebcm, diagnosed by ginn motor co. On 1-21-02 (no problem with them, fine folks). This is a manufacturer design error. This module should have never been placed in the wheel well area where it isn't protected. There are numerous reports of these failures on various internet sites and this needs to be recalled. Cost to repair this is $951.50, not including the $72 diagnosis I paid. I declined repair and will drive without ABS. Contacted Chevy once today....of many more to follow. Ok, Chevrolet... your turn... are you commited to making the most dependable, longest lasting trucks?

The vehicle was turn off and on three times and the light stayed on and the ABS hydraulic pump continue to run even when vehicle engine was off. The vehicle was driving for about 1 mile to the nearest motel and the vehicle's battery was dead the following morning caused by the hyd. Motor running the battery down. Truck driven back home about 85 miles and parked in the garage with the ABS motor 60 amp fuse removed to stop the motor from running.
