The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the tailgate unlatched and caused the tools to fall out of the vehicle. The tailgate warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that occasionally while attempting to close the tailgate, the tailgate failed to close and latch securely. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V060000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The dealer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unavailable.
