While pulling a horse trailer up a small mountain, heard alarm, engine lost power and reduced engine power message came up as well as ck eng light. Vehicle would not go over 40 mph initially then went down to 30 mph. Struggled 15 miles at 20-30 mph to get it to my residence. Turned off for 15-20 minutes. Turned back on, ran normally but ck eng light was still on. Next morning, started up, ck eng light was off. Took to dealer. Said there were no codes and they had no idea what was wrong. I had to travel on a dual highway, pulling a horse trainer at 20-30 mph with my flashers on. Also had to turn across dual highway on at grade intersections, not knowing of the truck was going to have enough acceleration to get across the highway.

2009 Chevrolet Silverado. Consumer writes in regards to throttle position sensor replacement. The consumer stated when the throttle position sensor failed, if caused a significant reduction in engine power and disabled the traction control and stabilitrak function. The consumer stated the throttle position sensor failed a year after he purchased the vehicle.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Truck comes to scretching haltwith motor running but wont go, door locks and all gagues going up and down a 100 mile an hour. Sometimes everything dead and all of a sudden it comes back on. Air comes and goes. All lights flash. Those uprandom codes. No warning its going to happen. Radio will start playing very load cant shut off. When it does this it sometimes lunges forward aboit twenty feet and may run fine or do it again. Went to dealer truck stayed 2 months. Said they fixed. Few months later started again, next dealer said they couldnt find anything. Contacted GM on both incidents. Nothing happened.

Driving down highway, check engine light pops up, tractions control indicator light, along with digital display saying several things. Such as, engine reduced power, service traction control soon..........pulled over, had a very rough idle. Made it to parts store and have the truck scanned. Turns out it need the throttle positioning sensor needs replaced. Had them clear the code, drove few more miles and all happens again.

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that while driving 75 mph, the engine stalled and the rear differential seized, causing the vehicle skid. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and called road side assistance. The representative that was sent by the roadside assistance service advised the contact that the throttle control system malfunctioned and advised that the vehicle was not safe to drive. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to his home without further incident. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer to replace the throttle control system. The failure mileage was 62,000.

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that when depressing the accelerator pedal, there was a slight delay of several seconds before the vehicle would respond. Once the vehicle did engage, it would accelerate rapidly and uncontrollably. The contact also stated that when releasing the accelerator pedal, it would take several seconds before the vehicle would decelerate. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told there was nothing that could be done to remedy the issue with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 10 and the current mileage was 50,000... updated 02-07-13 the consumer stated the vehicle is dangerous to drive on snow covered and slippery roads. When accelerating from a stop sign or a corner, the sudden uncontrolable acceleration is dangerous. Not being able to decelerate the engine usually causes the vehicle to spin out of control. While driving normally (35-40 mph on a residential road) in dry conditions, the check engine light illuminates and the onboard error message reads "service traction control, service stabilitrak, engine power down." Consequently, the vehicle will not travel faster than approximately 40 mph and steering sharply becomes difficult. This error has occurred twice in the 11 weeks we have had our new 2009 Silverado 2500 hd. With the first repair (odometer 1101 miles), they could not find anything wrong with the truck. They just reset the computer. The second repair was 4 days ago (3948 miles). They found the "I/P to body harness connector corroded, cleaned the terminals, and applied dielectric grease." We are extremely fearful that this defect will occur again while we are towing a 5500 pound travel trailer. Without steering, stability and engine power a serious accident could occur. When my concerns were explained to the local GM dealership, the general manager stated that he could not guarantee that they could fix our truck or guarantee it would be safe to tow a trailer.

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The vehicle was purchased in March of 2009. Since that time, the vehicle accelerates suddenly. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer on four occasions. On one occasion, while slowing down for a traffic light at 20 mph, the vehicle proceeded to move forward while the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle stopped when the ignition was turned off. The dealer was unable to diagnose the failures; however, they installed a device that should be able to read the electronic activities. The contact is concerned that he might crash into another vehicle due to the unexpected acceleration. The manufacturer filed report number 71-7284 and stated that the report will be closed because the failure was intermittent. The failure mileage was 2,000 and current mileage was 5,000.
