This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
2001 to 2003 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra with 6.6L duramax diesel engines. The fuel injectors on these engines will eventually fail due to the fuel injector body cracks or ball seat erosion. GM maintains that this was not a safety issue.
2002 Chevy duramax diesel with allison transmission engine surging, lunging & dead spots when you try to accelerate or brake. Transmission clunks & also jerks the vehicle. Dangerous in parking areas & when trying to accelerate onto incoming traffic where is often has daily catastrophic failure.
The duramax diesel engine has a loud ticking noise. Bulletin #02-06-01-022A says that all the engines have it, but that it can't be heard in some. GM's attitude is "live with it!!!", we are not fixing it. A a
