This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I received two new tailgate cable supports from a dealer in arcadia, Florida this past winter. I installed them myself on my 2002 Chevy C2500 hd crew cab pickup. I have reason to believe the new cables are not made from stainless steel as they are supposed to be. This is because a magnet will stick to the cables, just like to old ones. The dealer really had no answer other than the new cables were the ones they were installing on everyone's vehicle that responded to the recall. I know that 203 type stainless steel has a small amount of carbon and will attract a magnet slightly, but I still believe the "new" cables are the same as the old ones. Thank you, gene faulconer.
