2001 Chevrolet Silverado 5.3L 4+4 anti-lock brake problem, same as in Canada. Truck won't stop at low speeds. Anti-lock brakes kick in and truck continues moving. Many near miss accidents, including almost running into gas station, concrete curb stop only thing that stopped me. All in one trip to gas station. Haven't driven truck since. Truck only has 34,500 miles on it. Very dangerous condition! needs fixed. Your more than welcome to see for yourself.

When stopping and the vehicle's speed reaches 5 mph, the ABS engages. When this occurs controlling the vehicle is difficult, when going straight and the vehicle is uncontrollable when turning. The dealership feels that the ABS sensor which controls the ABS at 5 mph may be corroded and needs to be cleaned. The ABS sensor has been cleaned and the problem ceased. The consume was told that this is a cold climate problem. There are technical service bulletins issued but there are no recalls at this time.
The ABS sensor failure resulted in service brakes failing to stop the vehicle immediately. The consumer had to depress the brake pedal several times to stop the vehicle. The brake pedal was hard when this occurred. The problem was also present while being repaired.
