Bought a new 1999 Chevy Silverado and the strap on the gas tank has rusted off, which we fell this is a real safety factor, luck have it we were close to home, when you buy a brand new vehicle you don't expect the gas tank strap to rust off after just 6 1/2 half to 7 years. Could of been very( dangerous)
While driving to an assigned work area heard a noise under the bottom of the truck. Stopped to inspect the noise. Upon inspection, found the rear gas tank strap disconnected. Just the front strap was holding the tank in place, but the rear of the tank was hanging down within a couple inches from the ground. Was able to make the necessary repairs, and replaced a bolt. Will contact the dealer.
