This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
This truck is only 2 years old and the ABS system is out. This is a major safety issue because it affects your whole braking system. I just cannot believe that a company the size of GM would not be concerned. I have purchased over 25 GM units through my company for the last 10 years, but will never purchas another one.
ABS light stayed on, and when turning off truck could hear ABS pump running. Consumer had to take out fuse to get it to stop. Currently, ABS and brake lights are on. If consumer would slam on brakes wheels will lock up.
After parking consumer heard ABS pump still running. Consumer then disconnected pump. Dealer advised him that ABS system needed to be replaced. Vehicle out of warranty.
When depressing brake pedal vehicle would go into extended stopping distance. Dealer has repaired vehicle 3 times. Tech stated normal operation for ABS brakes. The brakes had failed six times and no solution had been found. The manufacturer indicated brake fluid as the possible cause, but there was not brake fluid leak.
Was driving vehicle approximately 45 mph when ABS light came on, and had no brakes. Was stepping semi hard on them. Trying not to rear end vehicle in front. Control module made loud whinning noise. Finally, vehicle stopped. Still making whinnin noise after turning it off. Disconnected fuse to ABS brake light. Took to dealership & was informed not under warranty, and would not repair ABS brakes.
ABS motor would came on and caused complete brake loss, disengaged ABS system to activate the hyadraulic brake system. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that vehicle was out of its warranty. Any repairs would be at dealer's cost.
The ABS control valve and ABS control module shorted out causing the ABS warning light to illuminate on the instrument panel while driving. Water had entered both units, the pins of the control unit and sockets of the module unit were covered with rust, shorting the system, in some manner water entered through the control unit and caused the pins and sockets to rust resulting in premature failure. During low speed brake application under normal braking conditions pedal is soft, requires pump to bring brake pedal to top of travel. Brakes will intermittently fail to stop vehicle, resulting in several near misses.
I was slowing down for a red light when I pushed in on the brake it would not work and I was pushing on it with all the force I could apply trying to get it to stop. I heard a strange grinding noise the whole time I was applying the brakes.
ABS module went bad. ABS pump motor wouldn't stop running. I pulled the fuse and took it right to the dealer. They didn't have a module in stock. It's been over a week and it's still not fixed. I'm driving without ABS.
Vehicle would not stop on clean, dry concrete surface at low speed. Vehicle was cold (30 F), driven about 100 yards, crashed slightly into garage door while attempting to park. Brakes did work at the last moment after pushing pedal very hard, and left a short skid mark from front tires only. ABS appeared to be operating when conditions were such that it should not have been activated.
Intermittently brake pedal would go to floor, have to pump brake pedal several times to get vehicle to stop. Also, caused extended stopping distance. Vehicle been in dealer shop on five occasions, and still unable to duplicate problem. Please feel free to provide any further details on this matter.
