The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate and shook. When the brake pedal was released, the vehicle jerked forward. The check engine and stabilitrak warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to len stoler Chevrolet (located at 343 baltimore blvd, westminster, md 21157, (443) 650-0926) where it was diagnosed that the oil was traveling behind the piston and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 124,639.
Upon driving the check engine light came on along with the service stabilitrak and traction control messages. The truck had minimal power when stepping on gas and truck would jerk. When idling engine is loud and shakes.
Ignition switch intermittently stops working. It will cut off while driving city streets and at high speeds and the lock buttons will lock and unlock repeatedly while showing the truck in park, all while going down the expressway. It's terrifying. Sometimes it won't start or do anything. But if I jiggle it then it will start. This has happened multiple times with multiple drivers. I had it diagnosed and did some quick online searches and this seems to be an issue with these trucks.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced difficulty starting from a cold start and would also shut off when driving. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer (reedman toll Chevrolet of exton, 421 w Lincoln hwy, exton, pa 19341, (484) 364-3809), but was denied service even though the manufacturer sent a letter offering an extended warranty for the vehicle. The warranty was for a throttle sensor malfunction that caused the engine power to be reduced. The manufacturer also stated that the failure was not covered under the extended warranty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 28,200.

Takata recall and another issue of power loss----- I have taken my truch to the dealership to have the takata air bags replaces and they told me that they do not have the parts to replace them. Power loss: I can be driving and the vehicle goes into a drastic and immediate power reduction. I have nearly bee rear-ended several times and the vehicle jerks suddenly throwing everything forward as though it is nearly a sudden stop. It will not drive over 20 mph when this happens. It will not reset until I pull over, remove, and reassemble, the battery cables. This happens during, and following, every rainy day. It also happens for no specified reason. It happened 3 times in the last 24 hours--no rain at all.
Purchsed brand new. Truck now has 76000 miles on it. Check engine light turned one as well as stability track light while coming to a stop. Truck began to shake a bit.. dealership took a week to diagnose said misfire on cylinder 6. need to replace the cam shaft and all lifters. Chevrolet states 100000 mile power train warranty. Truck has been serviced at dealership with oil changes on time. Case number with GM [xxx]. parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The engine in the Chevy vehicles from 2007-2015 all have high oil consumption and require engine replacement anywhere after 500 miles. My car was purchased new and needs a new engine a little over 5 years later?
The engine in this vehicle burns/vaporizes oil at a rapid pace. I have a 2011, 114K miles, and had to replace the pistons to the tune of $5400 - Chevrolet would not help with costs. 6 yr old vehicle, just over 100K miles and have to replace the pistons.. I had kept up all scheduled maintenance at the dealership. Have a "warranty forever", life time power train warranty, and denied my claim because it was due to 'wear and tear'. how can my 6 yr old, 114K mile vehicles essentially need a new engine? Chevrolet should be disgusted with themselves. I know many others with similar year, same engine and have the same problems. This problem should be investigated. I have not faith in the Chevrolet product anymore.
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving approximately 40 mph, the engine began to emit a knocking noise and the engine traction warning indicator illuminated. Also, the vehicle took a longer amount of time than usual to stop when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the number one and number 7 spark plugs were burned out and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recently recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case (reference number: 8/2905223479). The approximate failure mileage was 62,765.
Vehicle went into limp mode while cruising at 65 mph. Traction control disabled light and check engine light illuminated. Message center displayed "service stabilitrak" "service traction control" and "engine power reduced" messages. Vehicle slowed and transmission downshifted. Vehicle failed to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. With accelerator to the floor the vehicle would not exceed 35 mph in a flat grade. On a steep incline the vehicle would not exceed 15mph with the accelerator pedal to the floor. The issue has occured several times before. Parking the vehicle on the side of the road and several ignition cycles have in the past have resolved the issue. This is a known issue with GM vehicles using a drive by wire throttle body and it has been recalled on other model years.
Engine power reduced, service traction control, service stabilitrak, these warning lights came on and as my truck slowed down no matter how much gas I gave it. Also the check engine light came on. I shut truck off and waited a couple minutes then started truck up. It ran for a few minutes then the same 3 warning lights came on along with the check engine. Light. Is there a recall or a technical service bulletin (tsb) for this issue. I did read that there might be a tsb campaign # [xxx] for this issue. Is there any paperwork that can be emailed to me to give to the GM dealer to help me with this issue. The vehicle was in motion the first time it happened. It also happens while parked in driveway and just warming up truck. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V381000 (air bags). The part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available. Updated 01/25/17 consumer stated truck/engine running rough. Intermittent loud thump sound when transmission engages. Updated 7/16/18
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 55 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The dealer diagnosed that the oil pressure sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 118,000.
The fuse relay block on my 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with only 56,000 miles nearly caught fire when the rear window defroster and heated mirrors would not turn off even with the key removed. The problem was traced to a bad ground on circuit G200, this is part of the switch circuit that controls the mirrors and defroster. GM has designed a circuit that has the ability to turn itself on even when the car is off and the key removed! but even worse GM refuses to pay for the parts or labor to repair my truck. I have made several calls to GM customer service and while initially encouraging GM has refused to stand behind their product. Howard the customer service representative at GM couldn't disclose to me the amount of financial help they offered the dealership, it turns out they didn't offer any help at all. I'm not sure I will buy another GM product after this experience.
My dash is cracking around the passenger airbag and above the instrument cluster. I am concerned that the cracked areas could come loose and become a projectile. The engine is also burning oil badly and could shut down while driving
The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado. While driving approximately 15 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle continued to accelerate. The contact stated that the throttle was also sticking and the engine indicator was illuminating. The vehicle stalled and would not restart for ten minutes. This was a recurring failure. The contact had to push the onstar button, which provided the codes of the failure. The failure codes stated that the pps throttle system was failing. The dealer stated that they could not locate a failure. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 83,918. The VIN was unknown.
First of three vehicle collisions this year involving Chevrolet Silverado that have caught fire after involved in frontal impacts. Vehicle traveling westbound on sr 58 in lane county, Oregon. Involved in secondary collision with a Toyota pickup truck that had been struck by a loose truck tractor wheel. The impact by the wheel caused the Toyota to encroach into the path of the Chevrolet. The occupants of Chevrolet were able to extricate themselves. The vehicle subsequently caught fire and suffered extensive fire damage.
We were making a stop at the light, when a 18-wheeler didn't stop and hit us in the back, pushing us towards the bus that was in front of us, making the glass of the back break and throwing all the crystals in our body and clothes, the air bags never open, the front seats were broken and 3 of the 4 doors couldn't close anymore, the driver tried to make a move to the left or right, but he could not, because we were stuck, when we realize there were no major injury, we stayed until the red cross came to check our condition, but there were crystals everywhere so we couldn't move without hurting ourselves. We buy the truck with 2 miles, we are the only owners.
