whining sound when electronic transfer case in auto mode
When sold- dealer said to leave in "auto" mode unless i needed 4x4 high or low mode- i picked up in Butte Mt and drove to Nor California- about 200 miles or so into trip i moved selector switch to 2wd as there was no need and better fuel consumption. Upon getting to Reno NV i mode switch over to "auto" mode and head an engagement and noise ( note i did not here this before in Montana) - i placed back in 2wd and finished the ride ( approx 1400 miles) i did not move out of 2wd but brought into dealer for 1st oil change at about 5k, mentioned the noise and engagement concern i had experienced. Upon picking up truck they stated nothing wrong- drove vehicle around a bit never thought of moving selector switch- went to seattle wa from Nor cal...upon coming back ran into some heavy rain and decided to place truck in Auto mode- again- engagement and louder than before noise whining...brought back to dealer- they thought transfer case, pulled apart nothing- said vehicle was fine and ready to Pickup- went down - took service tech on road- sure enough he agreed "there's a problem"- next they took apart the front differential --Yahoo bearings , gears replaced alot of the guts- called into PU vehicle-- same noise and engagement ( not as loud noise)- asked to drive another vehicle- they found a tahoe with same diff, transfer case engine- No noise , no engagement.....now they had a GM Corporate Tech come out...they changed tires...still noise- took off rear cargo cap...still noise then turned around and said it meets specs and nothing wrong......pissed i picked up car a few days ago.....same issues remain, noise, engagement especially on any inclines or over 20 mph and now my another issue noted...I live on a hill...before pulling into driveway i came to complete stop, released brake and there is a " bucking sound " 3 separate and different noises that you hear and feel..truck going back to different dealer tomorrow---5th time going in--so much for buying a NEW truck its funny GM gave me a copy of a bulletin saying not to have in auto mode unless conditions require wet, sand et yet owners manual just says reduced fuel economy......another funny thing...i have gone to several different dealers, test drove several other trucks with "same" guts yet NONE of these trucks duplicate what mine does..in other words they dont have the same issues, noises or engagement with placed in auto- last but not least for your reading enjoyment--- of all these other dealers i have gone too for test driver ( over 10) i asked every salesmen what is this KNOB for...they all say YOU LEAVE IT IN AUTO MODE UNLESS YOU NEED THE HIGH OR LOW FOUR WHEEL DRIVE--- sorry for the rant ...just really pissed!!
