This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
At 30 mph in 4 wheel drive, on a snowpacked road, something in the front differential broke and caused the front end to lock up. This sent the vehicle into an uncontrollabe slide into the ditch. Fortunately there were no obstacles to collide with. Vehicle would not operate in 4 wheel drive but would operate in 2 wheel drive. Had this happened at 50 mph on a mountain road, deaths would have occured. It is time that General Motors deals with this problem.
