Engine light came on again. Took to the dealer next day and another diagnostic was completed. I was told what the issue was, a module needed to be replaced. The first time I took the truck to the dealer was last week, I was told the the pig tail connector and Knock Sensor needed replacing. Parts ordered. I was told to keep driving the truck as the engine was fine. At this point I noticed hard jerking shifting going into reverse and while driving.
I drove home noticing the engine light came back on. While en route to my house which is about 5 miles from the dealer (city streets), I noticed hard shifting when taking off from a stop. I later drove to work on the freeway and could not go over 60 mph as the truck winded out at 4100 RPM going 60 mph. The truck would not shift into a higher gear so I babied it all the way to work.
I will be taking the truck to the dealer in the morning and leaving it until the problem is corrected. Very frustrated at this point. I will update with findings when and If this problem is corrected. Dealer has been as helpful as they can be. (Rental, here we come…)
Update from Apr 14, 2020: So on March 24th I took my truck back to the dealer and told them it couldn't be driven safely. They agreed and gave me a rental truck. I have been back and forth with General Motors regarding my dissatisfaction with the truck they sold me and as of today April 13th, I received an email from General Motors indicating paper work is in process to buy back the vehicle within the next three weeks, If this occurs, I will be released from my loan obligation. I never once thought this would happen to a GM product. I have spoken with at least three other customers who bought new Silverados and I have been told their vehicle has been in and out of the shop as well. I have driven Chevrolet Trucks all my life and this just dumbfounds me that the dealer cannot get the part in to correct the problem. There is not even an expected arrival date for the part which was ordered on March 23rd. I know COVID is a big deal right now but I also know FED EX, UPS and other delivery methods are working just fine. Will see what happens.
Update from Apr 20, 2020: On 4-18-2020 at about 1000 hours, I called the dealer and asked if there was an update regarding the part that was ordered. I was told the part had just arrived today. I asked if my truck would be repaired today. I was told it wouldn't be because the Master Tech was off and not scheduled to be back to work until Monday 4-20-2020. Apparently no other technicians could perform this simple task. Sooooooo, here I am 4-20-2020 waiting for my phone to ring and nothing. Unbelievable. Hopefully I will get a phone call tomorrow saying come pick up your truck.....
Update from May 2, 2020: On 4-29-2020 the dealer called me and told me my truck was ready. I picked it up and was told the knock sensor and pig tail were replaced. The truck was clean and I had a full tank of fuel. I have driven it for two days and put about 400 hundred miles one it. No issues yet. I jinxed myself, just two hours ago I parked the truck and turned it off. As I exited the vehicle I heard a noise coming from the steering wheel area. The noise sounded like a swooshing sound. Never heard that before. Moments later I received a diagnostic report via On Star indicating there was an issue with my Air Bag Sensor. It is requested that I take the vehicle in for service within one day. WTF !!! Here we go again...
Update from May 5, 2020: On 5-4-2020 I took my truck in again for the air bag issue. After the tech completed the diagnostic he met with me and told me he believed the air bag issue was set off in error. He said he believes this because I never got an air bag warning light and because when it was at the dealer for service, there was a lot of unplugging and plugging of electrical components. He states there are no indications anything is wrong with the system.
