Chevy is making junk these days. The 2019 Silverado was nothing but problems. The US lost the car market and now are on track to lose the truck market. Shame on you for building a inferior product. I will never buy an American built vehicle again.
Same as the first complaint on here. Truck jerks into gear after reversing from driveway. I also feel hesitation when shifting from 1 to 2 gear. Either it will lag and then shift or it lags and then jerks into 2nd. It's very annoying, and I'm concerned that it might damage the internal workings of the transmission.
Service department at the dealership in Redlands, CA is telling me that it is a software update that needs to be completed but isn't covered under the drive terrain. This feels very backwards to me considering if I don't get the software update for the ECM/TCM as he's stating that the transmission will continue to not work correctly. Any/all equipment or parts that have a DIRECT relationship to the transmission for it to function correctly should be covered under drive terrain.
I've seen all of the TSB's here and it seems like there are quite a few issues with the 8 speed transmission. Hopefully they are able to resolve it.
I purchased a 2019 Silverado 1500 LTZ just over a month ago (Sept 2019), and with only 850 miles on the vehicle I am already having the infamous hard shifting "clunk" issue. I've experienced this over 25x within 850 miles! It's the same issue reported by countless others with the GM 8 speed transmission. The frustrating part of it all is there is nothing you can do about it. It doesn't throw up a code and I can't replicate the issue on demand, but the end result will be the same as everyone else with this issue: it will be an endless cycle of repairs and a high cost of ownership for this vehicle.
When I took my vehicle to the dealership (Norman Frede Houston, TX) the guy at the service desk told me there is nothing they can do and someone comes in about every day with this issue. Then, I spoke to my salesman (same dealership) to see if he knew of or heard of any fix for this? His response was I was the only person that he knew of with this issue and he had never heard of it before. Really? FYI, there is a class action lawsuit on this and thousands of people complaining about it in forums, and I am the first person to mention this to you? Whatever...
All known solutions offered up by GM are temporary solutions good for a few thousand miles, then you are back to replacing transmissions, torque converters, performing $450 transmission oil flushes, etc.
This is my first Chevy truck. I traded in my Ford F350 diesel for a smaller, more practical vehicle (for me) and it's been a very regrettable decision. The saddest part is I really like this Silverado. I like the way it looks inside and outside, but I know what's in store for me the longer I own it.
If anyone knows of a solution to this issue, please contact me otherwise I am going to take the HUGE hit and sell this truck ASAP! I will NOT entertain a GM product again if they are unwilling to do anything to help with this issue.
Gears 1-2-3 shift very harshly, up AND down, causing hard hitting jabs to the entire drivetrain. I've experienced a dangerous "learching" from 1-2 while in a parade crawl. Delayed engagemnent (similar to slippage) while navigating from a stop into a turn. High frequency vibration in the tunnel area at highway speeds (seems to be noticeable at certain increments along the speed scale). Delayed downshifts during passing at highway speeds. The overall driving experience is ruined by the transmission performance and I'm highly skeptical about the longevity of the other driveline components being "bashed", "boomed" and "whammed" on a daily basis.
Also, I offered the vehicle to my GM service manager to drive as if it were "your own" for as long as he needed it and found it with a simple "drives normal" diagnosis with a 22-mile test drive (probably highway miles). I'm certain they didn't drive it daily under normal, everyday conditions. It seems everyone in the GM chain is treating this issue as a hot potatoe.
While accelerating the first 3 gears are continually getting worse with shifting hard and now on down shifting. When it down shifts there is a significant delay and then shifts hard with hi rpms on the engine. I also notice a pulsating of acceleration. It definitely doesn't accelerate as fast as it used to, kind of lethargic. Took it to the dealer with a determination that "I WANT THIS FIXED!!".
They said on there test drive they didn't notice anything wrong. I demanded they do something. They said they did a transmission flush. After I got the truck back it seamed worse then before. Again they try to make me feel like I'm complaining about something that does not exist and then as always say "there is nothing wrong with the transmission and everything is normal"
I would think this kind of ware and tare would be normal at 80K miles but not in the 20K miles.

When I accelerate the gears are starting to shift with a delay and shift hard just in the first 3 gears then the rest of the gears are smooth like it should be. I took it to the dealership and they said it was normal and not to worry about it. I told them that in the 30 years of driving I know when something is going bad especially with such low miles. Again they ignored my complaint.
I was at a stop light, when the light changed I slowly accelerated and the RPM's of the engine increased, then 2 to 3 seconds later the transition engaged. The sound that came from the transition was a very loud bang or clunk. I brought it to the dealership and they said there was nothing wrong with it and brushed me off.
Was looking to see if this has happened to anyone besides myself prior to calling the dealer as it has happened multiple times. I'm lumping it all in this one post though.
The most recent examples are reversing my truck up my inclined driveway. The following day I started it up, put it in drive, coasted down the driveway and when I pressed the accelerator, it slammed into gear. I've had the same thing happen while backing and coasting down the driveway in reverse and then when putting it in drive to take off, slamming into first gear as well. It startles me every time. I'm concerned about long term effects on the transmission itself.
Don't know what they will do about it yet, but I will come back if I find anything out.
I've reported the slamming into first gear after backing out of the garage. I've let the truck warm up (per the shop suggestion) to no avail. It jerks into second after pausing slightly allowing the engine to rev. It also periodically (after backing out of the garage into the street) pauses before engaging in first, allowing the engine to rev and slam into first. It's happened multiple times; I don't necessarily come here to report it as it's so frequent. I called the dealer this morning, waiting for a response.
There is something seriously wrong with the 8 speed transmission. Several problems have been observed where the torque converter does not work properly. It slams into gear from reverse to drive, it will sometimes buck and surge forward when trying to accelerate, and it also makes an occasional grinding sound and causes the auto drive to get confused and loses the ability to accelerate from a stop light.
Sometimes when you backup and put the vehicle into drive it will go ahead a little then make a noise in the rear end like it is slamming into gear. It does it speratically and when I take it into the dealer they are not able to duplicate the problem. It happens once every two or three days, however, it is very embarrassing when you have other people in the vehicle, as it is brand new and I am concerned that it will have a negative effect on the transmission or gear box. I have asked the dealer to have a mechanic take it home overnight so they can duplicate the problem when they are in the vehicle. They refuse to do so.
