This is really annoying to drive a truck with a transmission that jerks all the time. I hear that maybe changing the fluid might help but I rather have GM be responsible and have them repair this issue.

Update from Jul 8, 2024: Autonation Chevrolet Dealer replaced the transmission with a remanufactured one under my warranty. Before that they replaced the engine as well under the warranty. But GM has not address any of these 2 major issues we are encountering with these trucks. Right now I have practically a new engine and transmission but I am not sure if they have been updated.

Silverado 1500 RST 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission

Transmission jerks shifting from 1st to 2nd every morning. Some days it's a minor bump, other days it makes the entire vehicle jerk/jump like its been spurred.

The transmission shifts very hard between first and second gears, I've been involved the mechanic work for more then 40 years. I started my career as an Auto machinist so I know a problem where I see or hear one, and this is going to lead to a real failure. The Chevrolet dealer says there is a bulletins on this problem but no fix. They flushed the system and changed the transmission fluid to synthetic at a cost of $275.00. The problem is still existing. This is clearly a wide spread problem effecting hundreds of people across the country. I've been a Chevy man since 1978 but a poorly designed transmission will cause even the most dedicated costumer to drive a Ram.

Jerks when shifting in low speeds at first, then sporadically and at various speeds. Also screen goes black, or blue, or sketches out in reverse. Dealer replaced TCM as well as screen. As I was driving through the dealership - before I even exited - it jerked again. Speed less than 5 mph. Scary if going through neighborhoods and it catches you off-guard.

Silverado 1500 LT 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 48,000 miles

Brand new 2019 LT Silverado. Shakes / Shudders when shifting. Especially at light / gradual acceleration - first to second, second to third.

Sometimes shifting is VERY VERY hard, especially in lower gears.

Annoying! Many many other complaints out there for the same condition.

Hard acceleration seems to shift fine, but who wants to "gun it" all the time?

Silverado 1500 High Country 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 11,000 miles

It's very annoying to be paying for a new truck and it doesn't run as it did when you test drove it. Well here I am 6 months into the truck and it jerks, seems like a transmission problem.
