CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 has an early trend of the transmission shifting hard, surging & jerking.

At the moment these trucks are still under warranty. However this transmission problem shows up right away with the average reported mileage only around 3,000 miles, so for now the 2017 Silverado earns our "Beware of the Clunker" badge.

Silverado 1500 Highcountry 6.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 11,400 miles

Bought this truck brand new after owning a 2500HD Silverado for 9 years and no major complaints. On 19 May 2017 6 months after purchase I had the truck looked at by the dealer after hearing a metallic bang noise from under the truck. This also was reported 18 Aug. 2017 and 27 June 2018. On 9 Jan 2019 while on my way to Chesapeake Va. the truck had a metallic bang noise and jerked like I was hit from behind. Again I go to the dealership and ask them to check the truck out. I got the same response, can't seem to duplicate the problem and find no trouble codes. Truck now has 11475 miles on it and never had been in an accident or off road. There is no reason other than a manufacturing problem for this to happen. I have called an written GM to get help. All they say is take it to another dealer for a 2nd opinion.

I wonder if there is anyone else out there that has the same problem?
