CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 has an early trend of the transmission shifting hard, surging & jerking.
At the moment these trucks are still under warranty. However this transmission problem shows up right away with the average reported mileage only around 3,000 miles, so for now the 2017 Silverado earns our "Beware of the Clunker" badge.
I don't think it's fair that the transmission failed after 7 years. It's not the customer's fault for General Motors to build faulty transmissions on the 2017 Silverado. Also, we shouldn't pay a penny to have the Chevy dealership fix it. We are still driving a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe and it's a stronger vehicle. We were very loyal to Chevrolet vehicles but, after this problem with the 2017 Silverado; we won't buy a Chevy again.
This will probably be the last Chevrolet vehicle I ever purchase. This transmission failure on this 2017 Z71 Silverado was the last straw. On a less important note, I've hated the seats since day one. They are the least comfortable seats of any truck I've ever owned.
Well I expected a transmission to last at least 150000 miles. the estimate to fix it is over $6000. The truck looks like new yet. This is total BS. You pay all this money for a vehicle and then this happens. I did not complain about the little stuff.
There's a class action law suit for the 8 speed transmission, but not the 6 speed transmissions. My 6 speed transmission should not have failed at 102,383 miles on a 2017 Chevy Silverado. I had a professional transmission shop look at it and they determined that the internal parts failed and caused metal shavings to clog up the whole system causing the failure. The shop also said they are replacing on average 5 per week of the same transmission, and this is just one shop; clearly there must be many many more out there that are failing.
We need a class action suit for this transmission, or added to the 8 speed suit... Please help!
