CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 has an early trend of the transmission shifting hard, surging & jerking.

At the moment these trucks are still under warranty. However this transmission problem shows up right away with the average reported mileage only around 3,000 miles, so for now the 2017 Silverado earns our "Beware of the Clunker" badge.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado. While the vehicle was parked on a sloped driveway without the emergency brake engaged, it rolled out of the driveway. The contact found the vehicle in the middle of the street still locked and engaged in park. The contact parked the vehicle back in the driveway with the parking brake engaged. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact read online that this was a common failure with 4X4 vehicles as the transmission transfer cause would inadvertently shift to neutral when parked without the emergency brake engaged. The failure mileage was 31,000. Updated 10/25/17 updated 10/26/2017
