Dive line vibration, not from out of balance wheels. It occurs around 70 mph and lives in and out. The shake/vibration is always present but gets fluctuates at a continuous speed. Goes from a slight floor vibration to the entire center console shaking water out of its cup. Feels like the wheels are going to come off the back. It can be seen that the rear end is shaking left to right from the drivers mirror.

My truck shakes from the moment we pull off from a stop and shakes until we get up to 70mph. We had an alignment and that did not fix anything. GM is fully aware of the issue and has done nothing except put out a service bulletin for diagnostics that costs an arm and a leg! we cannot drive this vehicle because we are afraid we will lose control. This happens on paved and dirt roads and inside city limit streets (30 mph) and interstate roads (60mph+). we are also afraid to drive the truck fearing that it would get worse and the driveshaft might drop. $60K truck sitting in our driveway wasting away.

While taking off from a stop my truck is making a clunking scratch noise. Also while backing out of a parking space it also makes this noise or if I have to turn the wheel it makes a popping noise. The front driver's side tire is more worn on the outside than the inside. I'm told by the dealer that every time they do the oil change they are rotating my tires. This driver's side tire worn heavily on the outside and no other tires even appear to look this way. I noticed a recall on the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trucks, but was told by GM that my vehicle was not in that recall, but my truck is having the same issues as the trucks that were involved in the recall. I need this looked into. GM recall number for the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was 42190. But again, I was told by GM that my vehicle's VIN was not listed under that recall, but my truck is having the symptoms of having faulty front upper control arm and the bushings.

The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving between 60-75 mph, the vehicle shook violently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (jim butler Chevrolet, 759 gravois bluffs blvd, fenton, mo 63026) who replaced the tires and rotated and balanced the wheels, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 38,800. * consumer stated I had the dealer reinstall the original wheels and tire and the again road force balance tires and wheels the vibration was the same. When I bought this truck used in galesburg, il yemm Chevrolet 248 miles North of where I live, I had a clean carfax check given to me by the dealer noticed that it had a vibration so I put a new set of wheels and tires GM (factory wheels) the truck had the same vibrations after 6 times getting the wheels tire balanced (road forced) I was told the 5th time that the problem was fixed and sent home. Had the dealer reinstalled the original wheels and tire with another road force balance still had the vibration, I was told by jim kribbs at jim butler that he new the GM regional manager that he would get this problem solved. Silverado 1500

  • 25,000 miles
Purchased brand new Chevy Silverado 1500 in 2016, noticed significant shaking of vehicle 11 months into owning. This vehicle is solely used for a daily to and from office job commute, consuming approximately 45 miles a day, mostly highway. The vehicle upon reaching 70 mph shakes terribly, enough to shake my coffe out of the cup. At the same time I also began to notice the quick wearing and feathering/warping of my tires on the inside tread area. Took the vehicle to the dealership and was told I needed new tires, mind you at under 19,000 miles and the shaking "should" stop. Had the tires replaced along with an alignment and the issue still remains. The dealership has been consistent with giving me the run around. Spoke with several Silverado owners whom have the issues, some earlier in ownership while others sometime later. Apparently this issue has been given a name "Chevy shakes". searched on line for this issue and surprisingly the problem is well documented/discussed. I'm getting the perception that this is a huge problem and Chevy is doing their best to cover it up. Filing this complaint to go along with the others. Hopefully this problem is addressed with a preventive mindset rather than waiting for someone to get seriously injured or killed. It's time for a recall!

Truck has vibration at 70 mph and upwards from rear of vehicle when on interstate - feels like a driveline vibration. Can be felt in the seat and not through steering wheel. Vibration at times is severe and other times minor or non-existent. Dealer keeps blaming tire/wheel balance but they are in spec (verified by third party tire dealer). Concern that vibration will cause control issues or something to break while traveling at higher speeds. This vibration has been present in the vehicle since new.

Issue since new: Only 100 miles. Leaf springs on 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 lt 4X4 truck is defective. Have taken it in for service on multiple occasions. All they will do is place grease packs on leaf springs, quieting (masking) the real issue. This temporary "fix" last only approx. 7 days and the loud banging and bouncing of bed is back. The vibration that is causes in cab along with the bouncing gives passengers headaches and is also responsible for terrible wear of tires. Trucks tires from factory are also bad and unsafe. In for service and did nothing. Was stated that they were 100,000 miles tires.... all tires cupped and worn to 40% and truck only had 24,000 miles. Called dealer to have issue addressed multiple times - they blamed the owners. We drive back and forth to work (mainly highway), keep it clean... maintain it to perfection and no off road driving of any sort. No way this is an owner-induced issue. Leaf springs need to be recalled.... along with the Goodyear tires provided by factory. Have filed a claim with General Motors after several attempts to have issues fixed through dealership. They say GM will not pay them so they cannot provide any other remedies. No tire fix, and only temporary one week 'masking fix' for the leaf spring issue.

Rear leaf spring assembly, leaf spring bushings and hardware premature failure. Possible leaf spring and or frame mount inadequately designed. Rear leaf spring assembly, specifically the bushings and mounting hardware failed on one set of leaf springs, and is in the process of failing on a second replacement set, resulting in undesirable bind/wobble sounds and hollow thump noise felt inside the cabin (noise similar to a loose spare tire wobbling and striking the underside of the truck bed). The problem is most noticeable at low speeds both in reverse and forward. The more miles on the vehicle, the louder and more frequent the issue becomes. The concern is of premature part failure or breakage resulting in injury. The original set of GM leaf springs that were installed at the GM factory were manufactured in Canada and failed around 15,000 miles. GM replacement leaf springs installed were made in Mexico and are failing at about 15,000 miles. The total mileage on the vehicle as of 5/30/2017 is about 30,000 miles. The vehicle is well cared for and is always serviced at the GM dealership at manufacturer's recommended intervals. Mostly highway miles. Primarily daily commuter vehicle to and from a desk job. No hauling or loads in the bed of the truck. The manufacturer/dealers issued tsb's recommending to pressure wash the leaf spring assembly, check suspension hardware torque specs, and disassemble, lube and re-assemble the leaf spring pack. These have been performed by a GM dealer and did not resolve the problem. Replacing the springs has not permanently resolved the issue. GM truck forums indicate other owners of this model and year+/- report the similar experiences in the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Sierra model GM pickups. Some owners have replaced factory parts with aftermarket leaf springs with success in permanantly resolving the issue and concern.
