While backing out of a parking spot the steering wheel jerked itself out of my hand, almost breaking my hand and locked up and couldn't be turned at all. While locked up it finally broke free for a bit and jerked itself out of my hands again. Put it into drive to pull forward so I didn't get hit by other vehiclse in parking lot too. It did the same thing going forward, jerked itself from my hands, the radio even changed stations on its own. During this the dic showed a stabilitrak needs service message and worked ok once I finally got it to back out and go forward and as long as the vehicle wasn't shut off it ran ok, abut once shutoff, the same issues returned every time, even at the Chevrolet dealer where it sits now in mission, tx these events occurred while stationary and also while vehicle was in motion which is downright dangerous. While this is not my video or my truck, this is exactly what I am explaining above: [xxx] parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

When driving 2016 Silverado 1500, I put on brake and lost power to steering. Dealership said there was no recall. Other time when touching the brake, lights got brighter on touch pad for radio and for over 200 miles while someone was in passenger seat, it said passenger airbag was off. While turning and applying brake, loose all steering. It happens while driving. Not sitting still. First time it happened, 8 2as turning in the driveway and lost all power and had to slam on the brakes 2 times to avoid going into the ditch

The contact had to slam on the brake pedal to avoid hitting a person and a gas pump. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, and it operated normally as the power steering was reset. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (alamo city Chevrolet, 9400 san pedro ave, san antonio, tx 78216, (210) 987-2134) where it was diagnosed that the electrical power steering shorted out and needed to be replaced. I bought the truck brand new in March of 2016. At just over 2 years and 40,000 miles, the electric power steering system started failing intermittently while driving the vehicle, seizing control of the steering. It happened while stopped, then it happened when turning on a city street. Extremely dangerous and should not happen on a new vehicle. Chevy is refusing to do anything about it even though this was a known issue and recall on the '14 & '15 model years.
Makiing a turn the steering locked and engine died 2 times and yesterday while diving on the freeway at 70 miles per hour it died and managed to pull off the road. First time we allmost got hit by an other car. Im very, very concern. Truck has 19K miles
The stabilitrak has been going off at random times, several times in a row. Twice, over the span of two days, the stabilitrak has gone off while in motion, pulling into a parking spot on dry ground. It has also gone off about 4 times back-to-back while at slow speeds on an on ramp. The main display has also been randomly shutting off (screen goes black) without warning or obvious reason.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving approximately 10 mph, the steering wheel failed to turn and the contact crashed into a light pole. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the steering column was replaced. The failure was not corrected. The vehicle was taken to gallaes Chevrolet (2801 university blvd ne, albuquerque, nm), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was then taken to marks casa Chevrolet (7201 lomas blvd ne, albuquerque, nm 87110). The vehicle was currently still at the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.

Vehicle intermittently loses all electrical controls: Power steering, engine power, stabilitrak, airbags. All electrical systems are compromised and the vehicle loses all power. Once the vehicle is turned off and back on a few times it will go into a 'limp mode'. I've been stranded in the vehicle 4 times. I have had this happen twice while driving down the freeway, once driving in a parking lot, and twice when first starting the vehicle. During one incident on the freeway I was in the center lane and lost all engine power, airbags, safety controls, and power steering. I was able to coast and make my way over to the shoulder. GM and the dealership have been unable to resolve the issue and are now refusing to honor the warranty, replace the vehicle, or refund the purchase. This has been a serious safety issue. I've had my wife and two small children in the vehicle when it has died on the freeway. Not only is it a significant danger to myself and my family, but any other vehicles in close proximity. As such I have refused to drive the vehicle any longer, but GM seems intent on ignoring this.
Purchased truck in February 2017 new had 100 miles on it now has 4435 miles on it now it's been in the dealer 3 times for vibration itso going back for a 4th time for theveryone same issue been to 2 different dealers has had 1 tire replaced on right front and 1 rim replaced on right rear still have vibration issue the the dealer is purchased it at said there's nothing wrong with it took to 2nd dealer they found the issues with it it still has vibration at 55 mph to 70 mph and developed a bad vibration at idle when in park and GM is involved
When attempting to turn left at an intersection the steering wheel stopped turning at about the 10 O'clock position, jerked hard to the right out of my hands. I braked and tried to turn again, the steering did this repeatly for five attempts. I turned the ignition off, waited about 10 seconds then restarted the truck. The steering then worked normally. My wife and I have experienced this type of episode 5 times between us. This truck does have the lane monitoring system and I have experienced the gentle tug of the steering wheel and vibration in the seat. This is not like that. This is an intermittent complete loss of steering control. This has happened at very low speed when making a left turn from a stopped position and it has happened at very low continuous speed such as entering a driveway. It has never happened when turning right. Sometimes it corrects itself, sometime you have to turn off the ignition and reboot it. I have given it to the dealer for evaluation. Their initial reaction was that they don't know what the problem is. Fortunately no damage to ourselves or others, but the potential is there. That is why I felt I should report this.
I have a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado. Once you get to 70-80 miles per hour it shakes pretty bad. I noticed others have experienced same things. They even named it the "Chevy shake". I just wanted to file a complaint so it could be added to the list of others
Ongoing safety issue...vehicle looses power, steering, braking, all other devices inactive, driving safety of occupants and others relevant when driver has no control due to defect. Chevy mechanics believe might be steering system such as ignition and locking elements, due to grinding noise before vehicle looses power and other parts lock up, Chevy techs thought might be race and pinion, might be electrical, might be whatever, they are unable to conclusively determine this critical safety defect in truck. Chevy techs have commented they are skeptical about letting anyone drive until resolved. Investment hugh with loss of use and finding other transportation. Why own it. GM needs to reimburse cost and replace. This is a significant liability. All aspects of non functioning parts don't generate error codes, and this incident has reoccurred over eight times in five days. This requires action by GM, where is it. Loaner vehicle not sufficient replacement for investment. Safety issue commenced on March 16, towed multiple times, been to two dealers, initial more than 200 miles from home, and current dealer where purchased with 25 miles of home.
