Same as many others I read about. Started off with turns at low speeds. Turning backing up etc.. Power steering quit but I could steer manually - barely! Next time backing into my driveway, the steering wheel jerked out of my hand, radio screen went black and other alerts came on drivers screen, and the engine died before I read alerts. Stuck in the middle of the street but thankfully not busy and started back up in a couple of minutes. It happened again when I changed lanes on the freeway this time. Once again all of the same things happened but this time at freeway speeds. The engine died, alerts on screen, radio screen on and off, power steering quit but thankfully it started immediately. Chevy told me battery cables for $1200.00 but no guarantee.
I have an aftermarket warrantee (Car Shield) but was told battery cables are not covered. GM has a service bulletin PIT5405C from Jan 2017 and that says battery cables / connections. That is OK if that is what it is, but if I have to pay $1200 with no guarantee, then what good is that? Anyway this should be a safety recall whatever the problem is. The same problem was a recall on prior years so why is 2016 different?
Other drivers have ran off the road because of this and God knows what happened to the ones we didn't read about. My wife and I were scared and shaken but survived that time. Afraid to drive the truck so it is basically useless. A lot of money ( $46,000 ) for something I can't use and I really enjoy the truck. GM has to do a recall too many incidents to ignore. Hopefully it doesn't take someone being seriously injured or killed to get a response from GM. Feel free to respond & update. Thanks.
