Finally in SE PA we got a warm day in the beginning of May. I turned on my A/C only to find that it was blowing in ambient temperature from the outside & not cooling. I had it charged and it only lasted about 1/2 a day. I took it to my local garage with great mechanics that I've used for years. They put dye penetrant into my system using a professional hvac machine.
The dye revealed a significant leak on the condenser. The mechanic showed me where it was leaking. If you are looking straight at the condenser the way it sits in the grille; look to the far right side - there is a black tubular or cylindrical portion which is about one inch jn diameter, and it goes from top to bottom of condenser.
You could see the dye penetrant towards top portion of this cylindrical channel. My mechanic told me, this is common on the newer chevy trucks and the condensers are made poorly and defective. I've had Tahoes and Suburbans that had over 250,000 miles without ever having a problem.
I purchased this 2016 Chevrolet Silverado brand new from the dealer with seven (7) miles on it and have always maintained it impeccably. To had to shell out $700.00 for a new condenser to be installed at 69,000 miles is criminal. GM should be recalling theses units and footing the bill for this expensive repair because of inferior parts being used on this very expensive, over $45,000 vehicle.
