Clip nuts made out of very thin metal and have rusted thru at the weld (clip to nut). Called Chevy parts and found Chevy does not offer replacement parts. They require you to buy all new running boards. No evidence of rust on other parts of the truck. These clips are normally seen on the interior of automobiles not exterior.
Noticed a rattle which seemed to becoming from the rear passenger compartment but upon inspection found passenger side factory running board loose. Parts department said replacement would use same clips.
Certainly could be a debris hazard if not taken care of.
