This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
My 2015 Silverado began blowing hot air with A/C on. Have had refrigerant added several times and it leaks out in 3-4 days. Another service location identified the problem as a bad A/C condenser. Looked online and discovered that there are many more people affected by this exact problem. Some are saying that there is a recall but my dealer says they are unaware of any problems or recalls. This is being reported as 'widespread failure' so vast that the replacement parts are unavailable due to national backorders.
Truck shakes severely when driving at speeds above 70 mph on many different road types. This problem started not too long after I got my truck new. After complaining about it the service department said this is "standard 22 inch wheel vibration." After I had about 35000 miles on it the vibration got so bad I couldn't stand to drive on the freeway. Took it back to the dealer and they said the tires were wore out even though there was still plenty of tread. Had another shop look at it and they found one of the wheels was ever so slightly bent. Took it back to the dealer to confirm. They sold me a new wheel, the problem didn't go away or change in any way. I bought new tires as they recommended, problem was still there but not so severe until after driving a few thousand miles. The more miles I put on the tires the worse the vibration gets. Took it back into the dealer again recently, they keep telling me it's standard vibration for 22 inch wheels. I know this is bogus because I know a few people with the exact same wheels and tires that don't have the shaking problem, they can drive as fast as they want and it's smooth. Everybody that rides with me asks what is wrong with my truck. How can I convince the dealer that there is an actual problem?
At 46000 miles the ac unit compressor went bad. I researched this and found it to be a major issue with these GM vehicles. I personally know 4 trucks that have had the same problem. I have to wonder why GM has not recalled this vehicle knowing they have an issue.
All sound stopped on my truck. Radio, turn signal feedback, etc. It was working at end of day but did not work the following morning. I searched and found recall #14315 but your web site says there are no recalls for my vehicle. It has exact same symptoms as described by that recall. I googled symptom and found where someone had disconnected battery for awhile and that fixed it. Did for me too but feel the fix in recall 14315 should be applied to my truck as well.
Faulty tailgate bushing (GM part no. 84331136/84131760), plastic, engineering defect. The part cracks, breaks, disintegrates, simply by opening or closing the truck tailgate over a short period of time. The busing was designed to assist the tailgate by reducing the weight or muscle needed to rest the tailgate without slamming. When the busing cracks or breaks then the tailgate slams down. This is a safety issue since the owner becomes accustomed to the tailgate lowering with ease, and upon the first time opening tailgate after the bushing has been compromised, it slams down, risking injury to your arms, possibly your back or anyone like children, a child's head underneath or below the owners waist. Secondly, GM is "price gauging" their customers. The part cost less than $10 during the warranty period, and the cheaply manufactured part, which is most likely spun on a 3-D printer by a Canadian company costs $44 now. They do not offer a oem part and have not changed the plastic part to adapt to all of the customer complaints. This is the fourth bushing I have to replace. Online research of other truck owners with the same vehicle indicate this is a wide spread public problem. I have filed a complaint with GM. They are not willing to help me replace the part at no cost. Please help the consumer. Thank you for your consideration.

Rear drivers side door says it's not latched but it is. Therefore the doors do not lock automatically and the dome lights do not turn off automatically. This could cause some serious issues as I don't know if the door is properly latched since it says this all the time. My children ride in the vehicle and this is a huge safety concern.
I join a long list of Chevrolet truck owners experiencing ac failure far too soon in the vehicle's life. My 2015 Silverado 1500 4X4 Z71 with 42,000 miles had the ac completely stop working over the weekend under normal driving conditions. The temperature was 82F. Upon inspection at the dealership, it was determined that the condenser had a leak on the top right side and that it would need to be replaced. When I asked about the warranty claim, the service manager explained that he has submitted the claim and that he, "... had very little doubt that it would be approved." " we see this a lot, " he explained. This is a widely known issue and several owners are paying out of pocket for faulty equipment that should have never been installed on such an expensive vehicle. GM's "most dependable truck" slogan is worthy of debate.
Air conditioning system stopped working only blows hot air. Called dealer about the problem after I learned this has been an ongoing problem. Chevy will not cover this problem under warranty. When I told them this was an ongoing problem starting with 2014 models I was told they never heard of this. I was all so told that because I don't have all my service work done with them they really don't feel they need to cut me a brake I would have to pay full price for repair. After owning my truck for just over 2 years and 30K miles, the ac stopped blowing cold air. When purchased new and for the next couple of years driving it, the ac worked perfectly, this happened from one day to the next. After searching online for a resolution, I came across multiple other Chevrolet owners with the same issue. The culprit came to be known as the ac condenser. It is known that the condensers used by GM for this model truck have weak welds and this is where the condenser fails producing a small leak. As it turns out, GM is aware of the issue with the ac condensers on these vehicles and refuses to cover them under warranty and wants to charge upwards of $1K dollars to replace. I am completely unsatisfied with this considering my truck is only 2 years old with under 35K miles on it. This is too new of a vehicle for the ac to be having problems that are not covered under warranty.
I'm adding to the growing list of complaints about the ac issues with GM/Chevy full-sized vehicles from 2014-2015. As of 5/3/2018, I had noticed my ac only blowing hot air. Tried again the following day, same thing. Only being 2 years old, I found it incredibly odd that the freon would be gone already. Upon doing my research about the problem, I discovered that this is a tremendously egregious known issue with GMC/Chevy owners and a recall regarding the problem has still not been issued to correct it. Given the fact my vehicle has just fallen out warranty as well, it's incredibly infuriating that I'm now forced to have these repairs come out of pocket and wait nearly a month for the parts to come in. This needs to be addressed immediately by GMC/Chevy before the hottest days of summer arrive.
Transmission problems. When reversing up a driveway the truck will stall as the gas is pressed it will rev up but not go anywhere, then jump into reverse as if the petal was floored. Also some times when entering the highway the transmission doesn't shift into the correct gears also jumping into gear which could cause accidents.
The air conditioning does not blow cold. 2015 Silverado with 55K. Do not hear the ac compressor kick in when ac button pushed. Hissing noise overheard when it does decide to work. Internet queries lead me to believe this is a known issue with 2014, 2015 Silverado models and GM does not acknowledge.
My 2015 Silverado with 59,000 had the ac go out. The ac blows warm air wehter it is parked, driving on the highway @ 65mph. Apparently there are thousands of other GM owners with the same issue. This issue is on Sierra, Silverado, Tahoe, Yukon, and escalades! it is a defective and well known and documented issue with the ac condenser/compressor. It cost over $1,000 to fix and is not covered under warranty with no GM or dealer discounts. The issue is so major that the back order for the part takes months and there are over 18,000 units are on back order! yes! 18,000 units!
The third brake light on my 2015 1500 Silverado leaked into my headliner. Now there is a brown line all the way across my headliner above the rear window. Even the service guy at Chevy said it wouldn't leank anymore. He has had quite a few trucks come through with this issue. The fix was $153. How will I know if mold forms due to this? my truck was sitting in my driveway during the rain.
Sunroof shattered while driving down highway. Heard a loud, powerful explosion. The shattered glass was kept in the retractable sunroof cover. Thank god the cover was closed. There was no overpass we went under no vehicle in front nor back. It was a cloudy cool day temp. 50 degrees.
Sunroof shattered while driving down highway. Heard a loud, powerful explosion. The shattered glass was kept in the retractable sunroof cover. Thank god it was closed. There was no overpass that we went under no vehicle in front nor behind us. It was a cloudy cool day temp. Around 50 degrees.
The truck has a constant vibration about 45 mph and increases with frequency as speed is increased as well. Passenger seat shakes and can be felt through entire vehicle. Tires have been replace multiple times with no correction.
I have had a 14 now a 2015 Silverado that both have had a A/C condenser go out by 45K miles this is completely rediculouse this is not considered a safety concern, and has not been recalled as well as I have spent 2K on these repairs in 2 years I have a condition that I cannot take extreme heat so I have no choice but to spend the money GM was contacted they basically said I will get 12 month warranty on new repair.
