When attempting to stop the brake pedal will be difficult to depress and not stop the vehicle. This has typically happened at low rates of speed, such as when parking. However this has caused me to my contact with another vehicle while parking and makes maneuvering with a camper extremely difficult and dangerous. I just received a notice where GM has acknowledged the problem but comes well short of taking full responsibility. They have offered a "Special Coverage Program," which excludes my vehicle due to mileage. This should be a full recall for all vehicles effected by this dangerous issue.

On 12/15/2018 the vacuum pump on my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado quit working. I was about 400 miles from home, so I had it repaired at my expense at a Chevrolet Dealership. I had virtually no brakes, unless I stood on them with both feet. When the dealership was finished I was handed a bill for $1506.56. They said when the pump went out it send liquid into the brake booster and the master cylinder thru a piece of pipe connecting them. I had 195,207 miles on the truck. I paid for the repairs and was glad to get my truck back and headed for home.

Now in April of 2019, I receive a letter from GM stating 'in so many words' that they know of this problem, and if you have less then 72,000 miles or owned the truck for less then 6 years, which ever comes first, they would fix it for you.

My complaint is, if they want to warn their customers of a serious problem with their vehicle, but put such tight restrictions on repairs, I just don't think that is fair to the motoring public. I could have had a very serious accident and hurt or killed myself or someone else.

I was sitting in traffic when I hit my brakes it was like I was pushing on a brick and could not get it to stop. I drive in new orleans traffic everyday of the week and I travel 90 miles one way to get to work and I had to use my emergency brake in traffic for 2 hours, talk about a pain in the ass. Finally get home and take it to mechanic next day and he fixes the problem then rear brakes are dragging so bad I thought it was going to catch fire.So I go back to the mechanic ready to tear him a new one and he tells me that the rear calipers are warped and will need to be replaced. all said and done spent my entire day off messing with that and out 800 dollars and chevy will not recall or acknowledge this as a problem. Then my boss comes to work on 3/21/19 and said he hit his brick wall at his house on 3/20/19 and said he experienced the same noise and brake pedal problem. Chevy needs to step up and recall it before someone dies or gets seriously hurt.

This is a safety hazzard for anyone with this problem !! the brakes get hard and will not stop when at low speed or trying to park . this could cause a accident and serious damage to both vehicle's !

GM needs to fix this problem and recall these vehicle's before they get bigger problems on their hands. GM just needs to own this and the right thing and fix the problem and do it the right way the first time !

I know one thing THIS WILL BE THE LAST GM VECHILE I BUY I WILL BUY A FORD THE NEXT TIME AND THAT WILL BE VERY SOON !!!!!

I guess people are going to have to be killed are get serious hurt before they decide to do anything .

I first noticed when parking truck. I pulled into parking spot and truck did not stop. The brake pedal became very stiff. I took to dealer to have checked and they did not find anything wrong with brakes. The problem keeps occurring at low speeds forward and in reverse. I looked online and found Chevrolet has issued bulletins about the issue but refuses to issue a recall. What I had read about the fix, it would cost about $1500 to replace the master cylinder, vacuum assist and hoses. This fix is not guaranteed to fix issue. The problem can reoccur after a short time.

Several times commuting in to work, wife said brakes felt funny, hard to stop. I would drive and have no problems, then it finally happened to me in a parking lot. Tried to stop but truck kept rolling, lost power assisted brakes, like booster failed. Managed to stop but happened again two days later and felt like it happened but less severe while braking at a higher speed. Brake pedal goes real stiff and seems like truck won't stop, and it's hard to stop it.

Read online that it has happened to others and requires the brake booster, master cylinder, vacuum pump, vacuum line all be replaced if oil is found in it, Service Bulletin #PIT5361

This should be covered under warranty, serious issue.

Going approx 20 mph. Car in front slows down to turn. I applied brakes and the truck would not stop. The brakes felt like the pedal went to the floor as I was pushing down hard. The truck felt like it was slowing down but barely, I eventually, tapped the vehicle in front of which was a police officer in a marked vehicle.

Second occurrence happened 04/21/2017. Same scenario, excluding the police officer. I hit a truck, I was able to try and steer to keep from hitting it. but hit the truck in the right rear, breaking his tail light.
