During a turn to a side street the vehicle shut off. All steering and brakes were inoperable. There was an engine malfunction light and a message about there being 2 identical keys for the truck then anti theft flashed. While stopped in the intersection blocking traffic, a message directed to roll down the drivers window then back up. When that was done, electrical came back on and steering was restored. The vehicle was started and is now unsafe for use. The control for being on or off is unreliable and therefore unsafe to use as a Transport. 42000 miles on the 2014 high country Silverado. No steering. No brakes...that makes it unsafe. Would you put your family in this vehicle and ask them to drive safely" how do you justify giving total control to volatile software? how about at 75 mph and it fails" just know it can happen would have ensured I considered another purchase. I believe that information alone will justify someone else's marketing data.
During a panic stop at slow to mid speed someone pulled out in front of me and I hit the brakes only to have a hard pedal and not stopping quick enough. Felt like a brake booster issue. The hard pedal and increased stopping distance is a definite safety issue and I will be heading to the dealer asap. I am out of normal warranty and only have powertrain warranty left. I took my truck in for service my brake pedal was getting hard to press even at a low speed. I took in my vehicle and it ended up being the brake vacuum pump that was causing the problem.
Brake failure. While backing down my driveway at a speed of only 10-15 mph the vehicles brake pedal became rock hard and would not depress, I am a 220 lb. Man who is what I feel in good shape and had to use both feet on the brake pedal and all my strength just to attempt to slow it down. I was unable to fully be able to stop the vehicle when I impacted the corner of my garage which resulted in minor bumper damage, however no one was hurt thank god. The odd thing is once I stopped and put the vehicle in park the brake pedal seemed to build pressure again and was fine? after a little investigation with the vehicle I can recreate the issue if I pump the brakes 4 to 5 times in quick succesion which results again in a rock hard pedal and loss of braking. Once I rev the engine in neutral I restore pressure back to the brake pedal and have no issues. I am almost positive this is a brake vacuum issue and will be taking to a mechanic asap to look into it.

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and dealer (blaise alexander Chevrolet, 800 market St, sunbury, pa) were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 115,000.
2014 Chevrolet Silverado. Consumer writes in regards to braking system failure. The consumer stated while rreversing and carrying a 16' trailer down a driveway the brakes failed to operate. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified.
My brakes are not stopping properly, I was advised it was a safety issue and could cause a traffic accident. My radiator also had began to leak from the front of my hood. It's been maintenance and I've never been in an accident. There vehicle should not be going out so quickly, at risk of overheating or fire.
On the highway pulling new travel trailer home. Came up-on stop & go traffic (2 hours) brake pedal was hard, no power. I did manage to stop very nervously without hitting vehicle in front. No problem after started moving. A few weeks latter backing up to park camper at camp ground and return home, same thing, no power brakes
The vacuum pump to the truck brakes went bad. I lost my breaks completely and could not engage any movement in the breaks to stop the truck.. luckily I was in a parking lot and not driving down the road. It cost us over $800 dollars for this repair.
For about 2 months I was having trouble with my truck not stopping the way it use to I would appiy the brakes and the pedal would get hard and it would barely stop 2 weeks ago I was driving my truck on a highway at night and a deer ran out in front of me I applied the brakes hit the deer and was unable to stop lost control of my truck crossed the 2 lanes and ended up in the woods with my truck after hitting the deer I had both feet standing on the brakes and it would not stop I collided with a pine tree now my truck is at a body shop we're they believe it is totaled
For the past 2 months I was noticing the it was getting hard to stop my truck with braking the pedal would get hard and barely stop 2 weeks ago I was driving on a two lane on a highway at around 11:30 at night and a deer ran out in front of me I applied the brakes and swerved I hit the deer with right front of truck could not stop the truck I went across the highway and into the woods with my truck and had both feet on the brake pedal and it was like I had no brakes I ended up in the woods and hit a pine tree my truck is at a body shop now where they believe it is a total loss
Loss of braking power has occurred multiple times at the boat ramp. While slowly backing down the ramp in reverse, brakes will become stiff and not stop the truck. ABS sensation in the pedal can be felt once pushing the pedal harder until the vehicle stops. Only solution is to put the vehicle in drive and give slight throttle to regain braking power before continuing to back down the ramp (which is less than 20 ft long nonetheless). My tuck has almost not stopped and rolled into the water on a few occasions now.
Started noticing hard brake pedal in reverse and at low speeds until last night it seemed as if my brakes were not there at all pulling into my garage.well this morning I left for work and got maybe 2 miles away and heard a squel and had little to no brake and then they got harder and I got no brakes I almost ran into a lady at a stop light in front of me but swerved and missed her but pulled over off road and noticed that my belt had broke and that vacuum pump had locked up and it needed replaced.
