My service light is constantly going off for "trailer brake system". it has been doing it for quite some time. I have taken it to the dealer several times to be looked at with no luck. Today I drove it about 20 miles and it must have chimed about 30 times. It is a constant distraction when I'm driving not to mention very irritating. It does it in park, in drive, dry and wet weather.

No power brakes. At low speeds vacuum pump does not provide enough vacuum for brakes to work. Very hard brake pedal feels like you have no brakes. There is a service bulletin pit5361B when I spoke to Chevrolet customer service they told me my truck wasn't covered under this but it clearly is. This is very unsafe and might cause many accidents or deaths

My truck has 43K miles on it. Driving it the other day on a city street, I heard a squealing sound, and then the brakes failed. I had to push down really hard to avoid rear ending a car in front of me on my way home. When I got home I could see that the belt powering the vacuum assist pump for the brakes had snapped. So I went to autozone and purchased another one. Put it one and started the truck. The squealing was quite loud because the belt was turning, but not the vacuum pump. So I removed the pump and discovered large amounts of metal shards in the oil, which now means I can't drive the truck without risking taking out my engine. This should not be happening on a 3 year old vehicle.

I was traveling on a highway doing 55 mph. I say the light turn red and applied my brakes. There were no brakes as the pedal went to the floor. Fortunately we were able to roll to a stop without crashing into the car in front. I was towed to my dealer where they diagnosed it as a brake booster failure. This is just not right and seems too dangerous for such a new vehicle.

Dealer states that parts for two critical recalls on our 2014 Chevrolet Silverado will takes months to receive before an appointment can be made repair. Our vehicle was purchased specifically for towing our travel trailer. The two recalls involve rear braking system and two hitch weld breakage causing the trailer to break away from the vehicle. What is the resolution to have dealers provided in a timely manner the parts necessary to complete repairs. We cannot use our vehicle for months now due to these issues?

Front brakes wore out on both outboard pads. Inboard pads are almost new.truck has 32,000mi. I bought it new. Dealer said calipers were not sliding. I checked the brakes myself and found that not true. I replaced the pads and rotors myself and took pictures and saved all parts. There must be a reason, and I can't be the only one.

While driving my 2014 Chevy Silverado, I have had 3 instances where the stability control light came on and I suddenly lost lost all steering and brakes. Within a 2-3 seconds the cluster and radio went dead and then the engine stopped. I had no ability to control the vehicle. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated the logs showed 1 1/2 pages of vehicle communications errors including loss of communications to steering, loss of communications to brakes, etc. After 8 days of analysis, the dealer notified me that this was a known issue with GM and that there is an active pi number for the issue. However, there is no known resolution for the issue. Because there is no known solution, they asked me to come pick up the vehicle and continue driving it and they will contact me when a solution is found. When I asked if they understood that I could lose control of the vehicle and potential kill myself, a family member of another driver they only told me that they had no other suggestions. I escalated to GM customer care and they assured me that because there are no open recalls on my vehicle for this issue, it was completely safe to drive and that I shouldn't worry. A search of the internet revealed many people who have had the exact same experience and who were told to continue driving the vehicle. One even stated that they hit a pedestrian after losing control of the truck. This issue is obviously a huge safety risk as the driver can lose complete control of the vehicle at any speed.

Trailer brakes worked fine until March 27, 2015 when trailer brake system failed again while pulling my camper and had message "service brake system". both times after restarting the engine, trailer brake system is restored but will fail after several restarts.

On approximately July 19, 2014, the hill descent mode failed on my 2014 Silverado 1500 as I was driving down a mountain in the state of Washington. The truck took off when this failed and I had to manually use my brakes in order to avoid crashing into any vehicles ahead. I took the vehicle in to the dealer who, and I quote 'they couldn't duplicate the concern and there were no codes stored in the system'. only four miles were put on the truck while it was in their shop. How can you possibly test this failure if you didn't drive it in the mountains? next major issue was the onstar antenna began to leak into the cab, soaking the headliner, the floor and leaking into the dash where all the electrical components are. Dealer 'didn't have the part to fix this' and it continues to leak to this day. And finally, having noticed all the posts about rust underneath this truck, I too, discovered that the 'wax' coating had deteriorated and major rust issues had developed. I have owned Chevrolet trucks for nearly 20 years and I have never, ever found them to be the piece of junk this vehicle is. The hill descent mode is a serious and potentially deadly problem. These issues have been reported to the CEO of GM in a detailed letter with pictures to prove everything that is wrong with this truck. Caution*****before you shell out fifty grand for this truck, read each and every post on this website in order to make an informed decision.

I was going North when a vehicle suddenly stopped in front of me. I braked as quickly as possible, the 2014 Chevy Silverado that I was driving only slowly came to a stop. Unfortunately, I rearended another vehicle. Thankfully I had not gotten up to the speed limit (30mph) and was only going 20mph. My truck would not brake quickly. No screeching tires, no black marks on the road. The stop was so slow that I had time to turn the steering wheel and only damage part of my front end. The grill, bumper, and hood were smashed in. No airbags came out of the truck, and my onstar service sensor did not go off.

I own a 2014 Chevy Z71 that had a sherrod lift package installed at there factory and I have brought it into the dealer for excessive tire wear and the second time it was in the dealer discovered that all 4 brake lines were about to burst due to excessive wear and incorrect installation of the lift. My concern is there are alot of these trucks on the market and had I drove it another week it would have been fatal for me or someone I hit due to brake failure. I feel this issue needs to addressed due to the severity of the issue. The dealer deadlined my vehicle due to a major safety factor and contacted sherrod. As of yet I have not heard from sherrod about the repair. Its the thousands of other drivers of these vehicles I am concerned about. If the one I owned was done incorrectly but to specs according to sherrod than in 7000 miles if mine were within days of bursting than so are theres. I have pictures of the lines if someone needs them. Something has to be done or lives will and are at steak.
